Knights M110 SASS on a budget?

anyone have any idea how to maybe build an equivalent rifle as the new knights armament M110 semi automatic sniper system?
i want a rifle pretty much exactly like this but cant afford a 3-8k rifle
the budget would be around $2k or under and the requirements would be
20 inch chrome lined barrel
1/2MOA @ 100 yard accuracy (or better)
full length rail system
the adjustable LOP A2 style stock used on the M110 (mainly asthetics here)
as close to a clone to the M110 as feasably possable

Well, DPMS and Armalite both make AR-pattern .308 rifles. You can decide how close you want your rifle to match the KAC rifle vs. your budget. The same scope and mount alone will be well over half your budget.

what mount/scopes are they using on this system?
i was hoping the expence of the rifle was more due to the fact that it was a new military contract and not so much the actual costs involved in makeing the rifle guess i flew to close to the sun on this one oh well

It will be tough to do if you insist on the Leupold Mk.4 scope as well as the suppressor....

20 in. chrome lined barrel that's 1/2 MOA ain't happening. Armalite, DPMS, or even better Noveske 21 in. stainless barrels are your best bet.

2K won't get you the whole system. The Leupold Mark 4 is at least $1000, depending on options.

Here's my build (Armalite AR-10 platform):
-Eagle Arms lower, Armalite LPK, RRA 2-stage with KNS pins, Magpul PRS stock w/ Armalite buffer and Maddi grip, Armalite mag
-Armalite upper and BCG
-Noveske 21" SS barrel 1:10 twist with Smith Vortex hider
-LaRue 13.2 rail (Noveske gas block fits under it) w/ KAC rail covers
-LaRue LT-104 scope mount
-Leupold mark 4 6.5-20X50 w/ ill. TMR

As it sits it's at $3000+ and that's what you should expect to pay for the requirements you have, even if you change some things. The mark 4 alone was $1025 (a hell of a deal). I've shot consistantly ~.75 MOA 5 shot groups; I can usually get 4 of the shots with in a 1/2 with one opening it up. This is with factory .308 Blackhills 168gr SMK. Furthest I've taken it out to is 625 yds; cold, clean barrel = 3 shots with 6 in. from a crappy shooting bench. The gun is way more capable then the shooter and I plan to try again prone w/ bipod.

And there's no surpressor yet... And I bought all this a year ago when you could actually find parts at reasonable prices... Back then, skipping the Magpul stuff and buying a take off barrel and being really frugal I probably could have got the rifle done for ~$1500; a used SuperSniper scope would seal it at ~$2K even. I don't think the rifle would be as accurate, probably 1 MOA I'd hope; but I know I wouldn't have been happy with "cheap" parts.

If you don't do the scope & supressor right away, wouldn't it be a fairly easy build?

Start with an AR10 or DPMS .308 and add the new handguard to it, it will already look like it - if it is looks you are going for.

But, if it is quality, then good luck affording it under 2k.

sorry i forgot to mention the one stipulation
i cant get the supressor last i checked delaware wont let you get the tax stamp for them without a good reason and "just to have it" isnt going to cut it and seeing as how i dont hunt and my range really doesnt care about the noise i have no other reason than wanting it

if i do a DPMS build with the parts you mentioned will i have a rifle around the same quality as the knights cause for 3k i honestly could just buy the knights SR25

Any guess on what's mounted to the right rail just above the bipod in the lower picture? Laser range finder maybe? Or MILES gear from a war game?

Granted, it's just a promotional picture, but it looks like a lot of forward weight and a waste of bipod in that picture, not to mention he's not using his sling for a tight hold.

Still blew your $2K budget by about $900, and that was at pre-buying frenzy prices.

Nothing SR25 is cheap and my $3K includes the scope. I beleive that SASS goes for around $7K.

Honestly before the insanity, you could have bought the DPMS or Armalite and added the rail and been just under the $2K mark (again, minus glass) OR you could have built the rifle with "better" parts for the same price. My gun a lone came out to the same price and a stock AR10T.

Now good luck finding a decent deal or any parts to even complete a build. That's what sucks. I have a 20" chromemoly AR10 barrel that I wanted to build into a budget AR10 but the price of parts has doubled in many cases.

It shoots great, by far my most accurate centerfire: Under good conditions, I have no problem making .75 MOA groups at 200yds. Even with the cheap Federal Soft points (that Walmart sells when they have ammo in stock), I've done 1 MOA groups with it.
