The countdown has begun. Knob Creek is barely a week away.

I can hardly wait.:D

Early weather report - typical fall around here, afternoons in the mid to upper 60's, sunrise temps in the 30's so dress accordingly. A little rain predicted this weekend, but supposed to be clearer and warmer as the days go on next week.

Hope to meet up with some of you folks. I will likely be there Saturday.

And yes, I have called shotgun more than 72 hours before a road trip. :p

Looks like we're gonna have a party goin' in the campground...

Myself & Wendy
Zorna (Wendy's sister)
Arne & Linda
The Arne Pack (they've got good grades this year - y'all look out!)
Two of Arne & Linda's friends
Kay (and possibly a Kay-friend)
Intune & his better half
The Intune Pack
Slingers & a Davidsomeone...

Looks like around a dozen adults, and enough kids to make life interesting. More folks are welcome, but you'll need to bring your own tent if you can't deal with the concept of a tarp lean-to. This morning my last two tents got promised.

I'll be in a green 1995 Chevy Conversion Van (Jayco) with Missouri plates, with fake bullet hole stickers on the spare tire cover. We're going to try to camp near the top of the hill, but we'll maybe end up settling for any place level. Kay's in a white Jeep grand cherokee, and Arne will likely have a small GM van and his friends who are coming are in some sort of pickup. Not a lot of help, I know. Look for yellow Crime Scene tape, and a 3' high inflatable Shiner bottle. I picked up the ceremonial fifth of Knob Creek Whiskey last night - it's gone up $3 since the spring.

I'll have a large frame tent up for general shelter/party. Kay, Arne and I are each bringing propane stoves, and I'm bringing a charcoal grill or two. Food is good (man cannot live on Shiner alone) - I'll probably be cooking breakfast at least a couple of days. I make a damn fine omelet.

It is perfectly permissible to request that Arne III fetch you a beer. Just don't let him drink it.

Plan is also to request $10 from any willing participants, put it in a pot, and draw a name outta a hat. If we've got a dozen folks playing, that's an SKS...

I'll be there. Don't be carrying a gun with the mag in or the action not locked back, I'll bust 'ya!!! :)

No rain in the forecast, must not be KCR weekend! It's a law or something isn't it??

What, no Oleg & Runt this time?

I'm planning on being there Saturday. (Gonna have to find a way to keep the action open on my SAR.)

Friday October 10th

Knob Creek is one of the very few things I miss about living in Louisville. (Ollies Trolley, White Castles, Joe's OK Bayou, Coyote's, Little Biff's, Rays Indoor Shooting Range and Kieslers are the others)

Can't make this one, but I am already planning on being there for the next one though.

Y'all blow up something for me. :)

hi

i'm a newbie to the high road, but am going to be at knob creek saturday & part of sunday. mind if i stop in and introduce myself? i'll be camping out in a hotel in louisville, lol...

BluesBear, I think Ollie's Trolley is gone now. (Last location WAS on 3rd St. I think.) I loved those burgers too! I KNOW RAY's Indoor Shooting Range is gone 'cause I have an unusable membership there! - or where it used to be. Closest indoor range I can find is in Lexington. :cuss:

Everything else is still here though. In fact, I am heading out to Joe's OK Bayou soon! YUM!

Logistar, Ollies was at 3rd & Oak. Bummer if it was gone.

What happened to Ray's?!?! Ray is a distant distant cousin of mine. I was the original manager when that range opened as Sport Shooters. What's in that building now?

Is that little indoor range in Fern Creek gone too?

Got more indoor ranges out here than I know what to do with.
Sorry for your loss.

Bogie, yep, and the funny looking orange hat also!

Where's the party tent?

Weather.com says mid-70's to low 50's and partly cloudy skies. Possible rain on Sunday.

See you there!!!

Thanks,

Albin

Sorry I haven't had a chance to call you.

Sheslinger and I will be there Friday night. We will only need a tent. We will bring our own sleeping bags and ground pad.

What kind of food would you like us to bring. Hot Dogs / Burgers? Lobster and Caviar? :uhoh:

How much is the camping fee? Like I said we will probably get there around 7:00 or 8:00 PM Friday night.

Thanks again for the use of the tent.

We will either be driving a gray Toyota Tundra TRD Limited 4x4 or a Gold Lexus RX300 FWD with red tailights(1999) Model. So if you see us wave us in.

Chris

I've got two tents reserved for you guys.

Bring whatever you wanna eat and drink. I'll likely be cooking breakfast on Saturday and Sunday.

Look for a Shiner/THR sign. I'll try to stick one by the main road, with an arrow.

Look for a silver/blue (haven't decided which tarp to use) canopy tent, green chevy van, yellow Crime Scene tape. 3' high inflatable Shiner bottle, likely on top of the van.

Wow,

I thought you were kidding about the crime scene tape and inflatable shiner. Should make things easy to find.

Chris

I take it you will have a grill or something out there?

Where is it? Oddly enough, I'm leaving the fair state of Idaho tomorrow for Louisville - through monday! Be kind of cool to find you folks - let me know?

Would I kid you about a 3' high inflatable Shiner bottle?

Knob Creek is between Louisville and Radcliffe. Drive down I-65, hang a right at Sheperdsville, and keep going until you smell gunpowder and see the traffic jam. If you come to a pink liquor store, you went too far. If you run into the Ohio river, you went WAY too far (or stopped at the pink liquor store, and commenced to imbibe...).

This is what I look like...

Or take I-265 (841 aka Gene Snyder Freeway) west to US 60 (31-W aka Dixie Highway) go south until you cross the County line from Jeffersin County into Bullitt (how appropo) county. Turn left at the pink liquor store. It's a little but closer, I think, than going in from the I-65 side. That road is very hilly and winding.

Well, whatever... I like the windy country drive, but then again, I'm weird. Besides, it's more fun to say "get on Highway 44 in Bullitt County, and drive west until you smell gunpowder!"

The official THR meeting spot is the front of the pole barn, Saturday, at 11:00. Unless you're camping, at which point you'll have already met folks.

That's true Bogie, but if you go the Dixie Highway route you just happen to drive right by Little Biff's and EVERYONE should see Biff's at least once in their life. Last time I was there (1999) I bought three boxes of Super-Vel 190gr JHP .45ACP !!! :what:

Y'all enjoy the shoot and take plenty of Pix for those of us who can't make it this time.

Yeah, well, I remember when the "Broken Spur" was on the Dixie Dieway... Not all that far, as the panhead flies, from the "Tuck a Buck." You see, I had a misspent yout...

You know, I don't think that I've EVER actually set foot in the Pink Liquor Store.

EVERYONE should see Biff's at least once in their life.

Bluesbear you are so right. It's been years since I was in Biff's. If a person had time to dig through all that stuff, they could open up a museum that would rival the best in the world.

My work schedule got changed to "on call" for the weekend so my attendance is up in the air right now. On the other hand, my office is near I-65 and the Gene Snyder so with some "spirited" driving on my part, I might be able to sneak off for a long lunch.;)
