Just got back and I'm a little confused re the sidearms issue. The rules as I read them were that you could not have ammunition in a weapon unless you were on one of the ranges. I saw plenty of guns in holsters while there and saw several longarms carried around (even cleaned some of them). They all had zip ties through the action, but there they were. I also saw mag carriers that had mags in them, perhaps even full mags. Considering the amount of gun handling going on I thought these rules were reasonable as they were intended to help insure the safety of the attendees.
The new pole barn is very nice allowing wider aisles and much better lighting. The old one is going to be replaced with a matching version of the new one.
Cleaned tons of cosmo covered SKSs from Coles and almost as many of the M44s they sold. They kept sending folks down to us to get their goopy guns de-gooped and we kept cleaning them. A dozen HKs, ARs, and AKs were cleaned and we even cleaned a Browning 30 cal beltfed and an M60. The worst thing was a trio of Maxim kits that seemingly had been packed in enough cosmoline to give each part an even 1/4 inch covering of that stuff
. While it only took 5 to 7 minutes to clean a 2,000 round HK or AR or AK to fresh from the factory clean it took an hour on each of the Mixim kits. Won't do that again.
I was very unhappy with several groups of jerk campers that whooped and hollered until the wee hours of the morning, left large fires unattended in the windy conditions, and blared music well into the night. For $10 a head per day for primative (no bathhouse, hook ups, water, etc.) camping KCR should divide the camp area into adult and dumb ass zones so that we wouldn't have to put up with such behavior. If not, I'm tempted to take my money to the KOA next time. At least they have a bathhouse and people don't act like jerks.
