I am just about done with my box of Danish surplus and took out a few of the Korean surplus I ordered to look it over and check cycling. It has the PS headstamp, which is supposed to be non-corrosive.

The Danish surplus came in boxes with clips in the bottom, so naturally I looked at each round as I loaded in the clips.

The Korean surplus came already in clips, so I loaded one up just to cycle it through without firing. It jammed badly and I found two problems. One round was badly corroded, and the clip was rusted enough it did not go in or out easily. I looked at several more clips and they all had some slight rusting, some more than others.

So I plan to take all the Korean out of the clips, inspect it, throw the clips away, and put the good ammo in new clips.

Has anyone else had this problem?

What's a good source for some more of that nice Danish stuff?

DON'T toss the clips! They just need to be beadblasted and re-parkerized.

If you don't want to do it, offer them for sale, or better yet, add them to the "Pay It Forward" thread in the BST forums here :)

I have some PS 75 ball ammo that was a bit corroded. I cleaned it up with a Scotch-brite pad and shot it.

That "nice Danish stuff" has not been commercially available in quantity for several years now. Wish it were.......

Good luck finding an odd case or two for sale from out of the back room of some supplier somewhere......

I just got a M1 rifle late last year. The Greek surplus ammo some in clips and bandoleers, and some in boxs, has been my ammo of choice. Non corrosive and nice condition.

I just bought a can of 265 rounds in clips. I think this stuff may be from Taiwan. Don't know how it shoots or if it's corrosive, but it is cheap!

If it's from an unknown source.... always assume that any milsurp ammo is corrosive and clean accordingly.

Guilty until proven innocent.....

BTW, what's the headstamp on this ammo???

I thought all the Korean stuff on clips was corrosive, and in the little cardboard boxes was non-corrosive.

Is it not that simple?

The Korean ammo around today shoots OK, not at good as the Lake City or Greek that the CMP has. Its nowhere close to the Danish. Taht stuff was almost match grade. I still have about 200 rounds of it left. :) I could kick myself for not buying more than 1 case of that when it was around. :(

I'd keep the clips. Hit them with some steel wool and Hoppes or CLP and they'll be fine. I have enbloc clips varying from brand new to pure crap and they all shoot just fine.
