Fobus is ok for casual and occasional use.
If your going to use it for any sort of competition or carry daily, I would go with a better quality kydex product like Bladetech.
Adjustable is way better
Kydex is a lot thicker (at least Bladetech is) and a lot harder. Also the Bladetech has a screw to adjust the tension the holster holds the gun. Try to look at both side by side and you'll see the difference. I've broken a Fobus holster, I've never broken (torn) a leather or Bladetech holster.
I've never played with a Fobus holster, but I love my Blade-Tech and have been very impressed with its durability. When my last one finally broke, after three years of daily carry and more than 20,000 draws, the folks at Blade-Tech were very good to me.
It is well worth the extra money to buy durability. I speak as a poor person myself!
It was a IWB with J hooks. I had snagged it on a banister, coming down a flight of stairs. The whole thing went flying, and managed to hit almost every step on the way down, as I looked on in horror. The holster was trashed, but the gun was saved. I credit Blade-Tech for that, and I told them so. They even sent me a new holster at no charge. Now that is A #1 service!
I broke a Blade Tech too, after about ten years of daily use. The top of the guard at the back snaped off, about an inch. A couple of minutes with a file and I was back in business, the guard is a little shorter, but the holster is fine. I still use it everyday. The only thing that does go is the straps, and they have made improvements over the years and they last a lot longer. Not that they go that much, like three times in ten years. There is no comparasion between the Blade Tech and the Fobus or Uncle Mikes. I have a number of the Blade Techs of different types, but their IWB is my favorite.
fobus is a softer plastic almost like polypropelene (SP?). I have a fobus that after a 100 or so presentations is starting to look worn out. Also it has apparetnly become a level XX retention holster because i have to about rip my pants off to get my PO LDA out of it.
I'm with morgan bladetech seems indestructable, FIST fits so durn good. Safarilands seem to be nice as well.
I'm a Blade-Tech guy. I wanted to try Sidearmor but they don't do HKs or Berettas
Besides Blade-Tech has CF-look holsters and Leatherperson pouches and I'm gonna try to get them ot make me an ubertacticool Motorola 120e bling bling ring ring pouchie pouch
I REALLY like my two UNCLE MIKES KYDEX I got , one paddle, one belt, for my Glock 21. Comfortable and easy to put on & take off with the paddle. They are affordable, well built, adjustable. I first got into using KYDEX making custom knives and using Kydex for sheaths with a hot air gun to mold perfectly the material to the specific blade for great retention. those using these Kydex sheaths found them to hold up 24/7/365 for at least a year as they crawled under, leaped over and generally abused their bodies more than the kydex.
