KyTac BraveHeart -or- Milt Sparks VM-2 for 1911?

Need some advice from folks who have tried both. I have worn a BraveHeart for my G29 for years and love it. I'm getting a Springfield to replace it as my new carry gun in a couple weeks. It's pretty much down to these two holsters at this point.

I like my IWB holsters to be rock solid and tuck that gun in there nice and tight. Has to be super comfy. Has to go on/off easily. Kydex or leather is not the issue, just the best IWB I can get.

I'm 6'2", about 225lbs.

Do a search at 1911 Forum you will find literally dozens of threads on this.

While I have not tried either personally, those who have seem to choose the Versa Max about 10-1 over any other IWB holster.

Just got my VM2 in the mail today and wore it around the house for a while. Great holster. The leather is top notch. As firm as Kydex right now but that will probably break in a little though. It took me a while to commit to spend over $100 for a holster but it is well worth it. Call Craig at Lightning Arms Sports. He can have one to you in a couple of days if he has it in stock.

Actually, I think I've changed my mind.

After doing some more research over at 1911forum and the TFL archives, it looks like the VM-2 either clips to your pants (under the belt) or uses snaps. I've had holsters that clip to the pants and not the belt, and I want the weight on the belt. I was also thinking that I love kydex for the gun, but leather would be nice for the comfort...but I could go either way.

So where is the holster that does it all?

- kydex draw/retension
- leather comfort
- spaced anchor points
- easy-on easy-off kydex over-belt clips
- tuckable would be nice

And just to be a pisser, I want adjustable rake / ride height, and if I don't like it I want to get a refund.

Now check this out:

It's a Tucker GunLeather "The Answer". This one has a j-hook on the front end, but you can get it with two clips instead. And Tucker will let you try it out for 3 days.

Is this the one?? Is it 'the answer' to my prayers?? I think I'm in love.

Unless someone pipes up with a horror story that can't be tweaked out of this thing, I've found my rig.

What's with the J-hook in front? My experience with J-hooks hasn't been very positive. I didn't like the way they took the weight off the belt and put it on the top of the pants. How does the weight distribute with the J-hook only in front? Every holster is different, and if it feels right then it works. I think you said in email, Rob, that the hooks are only another 10 bucks for the pair?

Might just have to get them and see for myself.

One j-hook works OK. Two doesn't work due to the reason you gave about weight on the belt vs. waistband.

I believe the VM-2 is the best holster made, bar none. I've always just used the belt snap loops for mine. I have the clips to make it tuckable but I've been so satisfied with the loops, I never bothered with the other.

My ony regret is that I just didn't buy the VM-2 first thing before spending money on other holsters.

I couldn't tell if you were being sarcastic here or not. I read this, and before I scrolled down to see the picture the first thought in my head was tonerguy and "The Answer".

And he did say right here in front of everybody if it didn't work send it back.

I have both for the HK P7M8. In my opinion, go with the Braveheart. It's so much faster.

I second the MS VMII. I carry my 1911 in a VMII. And love it. Very very comfortable. The options with the VMII, use it with the tuckable clips, or the belt loops. Win,win situation.

I just got my VM-2 today for my Kimber CDP Pro and all i can say is ... WOW! This is the best holster I've ever worn I wore it out to dinner tonight and I could barely tell my Kimber was there. My wife got sick of me saying "Man I love this holster!" I haven't tried a Braveheart yet, but I am totally sold on the VM-2.
