I was looking for some 06 surplus and came across some lake city. The price is 5.99 a box for 20 rds. or 4.52 a box if you buy 25 boxes. Ammo will be used for target shooting. Its 150gr M2 ammo. Any comments welcomed.

    vmfrantz,

It's blasting ammo, not target ammo. If you plan to shoot it out of an accurate rifle, you will be disappointed.

CMP has the Lake City .30'06 for 960 rounds for $230 delievered.
It is great for a Garand or '03. Though I do not shoot for benchrest accuracy.
It comes in nice, reusable metal ammo cans.

The Greek HXP M2 surplus is more accurate that the LC M2 that's out there now. It's still not match grade stuff, but I can score mid to high 90s consistently with Greek HXP in my Garand on the SR target.

LC M2 ball shoots well enough in my NRA bolt gun that I used it for 200 yard offhand and sitting rapid fire stages in XTC matches, SR targets. I don't think it costs me any points, usually shot 92-95 offhand and 98-100 sitting. Handloads outperform the M2 at 300 & 600 yds.

    Regards,
    hps
