Lake City 62 Match 30-06 cases?????

Unfortunately, after messing with it all day, i am coming to find that there may be 300 cases of the 1400 that I can prove are only once fired. I wonder if there is a market for twice fired. Almost all of it looks good except for a couple rouges and a couple that were maybe stepped on.

The greatest concern to me would be case head separation. If the previous shooter set the shoulders too far back you could get this:

However, if properly sized, (after taking a set of 308 brass 23 firings in a M1a) I am of the opinion if the brass does not have case neck cracks, body splits, and the primer pockets have not expanded so large that primers fall out, the brass is useable.

“R” stands for reloads and none of these cases of mine ever showed case head separation. However, the FAL brass, I think that stuff came unglued in a bud’s FAL in less than five reloads.

I reload a lot of rifle rounds but rarely mess with military brass except 556 and 556 tells on itself with the crimp amongst other things. I do not own a 30-06 therefore no 30-06 dies. I just let the primer sealer on both case head and primer slip right by me. I will open up several cases to see what they look like but I see no evidence, feel not depression inside with a dental pick. I may push a primer out in a few minutes to see how a new one seats. Anyway, I've decided to keep the 300 knowns and the 1100 can just sit until I am inspired. LOL.

After looking at those cases with what appears to be commercial nickel plated primers, the cut in the case at the edge appears to me to be very much like the ejector in classic Win. 70's but has a sharp edge on it. That would put a mark like that at the 7 o'clock point on the case head as the bolt stopped all the way back and the ejector sliding up into the bolt pushed on it. If the case head was held very tight by the external extractor against the lip on the bolt face, that dent may well result.

Just thinking. . . . . that round was probably not fired in a Garand.

I only ended up with 300 once fired match cases but I still have 1100 twice fired cases that I can inspect if I want to get into 30-06. But I just inherited a bunch of new 308 reloading supplies so for now my attention goes there.
