The other day I was messing around with my Ruger SR-45. I stuck it in my front pocket where I usually carry my S&W Bodyguard. I was wearing an untucked button up shirt. It was perfect. If I only had a pocket holster to help with printing and help guard the trigger this would be a serious option. Also it was way more comfortable than having say a Glock 23 shoved in my love handle. Has anyone else carried this way?

I'm a proponent of Appendix and pocket carry and do both. I get a serious kick out of folks who simply get upset about folks who "claim" to carry a Px4 or Glock 26 in a pocket ( or a Colt Officers ACP or a Ruger LCR or a Colt 1903....) because *they* can't do it.

I carry a G26 and even a Fat Boy Px4 SC in a jeans pocket (works better in a pair of Dockers or cargo pants...) with no problems and no one has ever asked if I have a pistol in my pocket. I guess size is the issue...some folks feel that if they can't do it, it can't be done or the gun is too big.

"Big Auto" is very relative. But yeah, pocket carry with "large" autos rocks if you can pull it off! :)

In the summer months I carry a PT709 with a Blackhawk clip holster in my front pocket. Cold months a G19 OWB Glock holster. The G19 prints alittle but I'm not overly worried about printing being from an open carry state.

You can modify any pocket to fit large handguns but for me weight is the problem. Anything too much over a pound loaded is not comfortable for me.

Larger guns & pocket carry....

I'm not small or short by any standards but I'm not able to pack a full size or compact pistol or revolver(K/L/N frame size) without effort.
I looked into a new Sticky Holsters, www.StickyHolsters.com holster for my Glock 21 .45acp generation 04. The size & weight is way too big for simple pocket carry. :uhoh:
I might get a Sticky Holster just for off-body carry or for travel/trips. I like the Bore-Store bags too which are handy but the Sticky Holster brand can be quickly converted with accessories(pocket, IWB, etc).
Sticky Holsters are only $24.95 USD so they aren't a huge expense.

I agree with the members who say a big pistol(Beretta 92FS, Glock 17/22, M&P full size-compact, SIG P226/P229, etc) can't really fit in a men's pants pocket w/o someone saying; hey, is that a big gun there? :uhoh:

Large autos and pocket carry.

Carry ok but can you sit with it in your pocket? Sticking a gun in the pocket is just the start, if you can do it for a week and get to the point where you forget it's there then it's doable IMHO.

Better yet, can you draw a large auto from the pocket smoothly, especially when seated. I am tall and lanky and can not do it. My PM9 is the limit for me when seated.

For me it is easier to draw because the grip sticks out of my pocket. Where my BG is too far in.

I haven't tried my Glock 17 yet, it is full size, yet a lot smaller than the 45.

I routinely carry a Glock 20 in my jeans pocket with a custom holster (cheap oversized holster cut off to length).

Re: Sticky holsters. They aren't. I have one for my Shield. It's so-so for pocket carry, but "sticky" it isn't. I'd check out Remora or a purpose-designed pocket holster (ie, one with a hook to keep it in the pocket when the gun comes out.)

Large Autos / Small Pockets

I'd like to think : 1911 (.45ACP) in my jeans right butt pocket, sans holster, with a very large shirt/jacket over it. Or maybe small of the back, with inside the waistband holster. In either case, with a good upward support system (keep your pants up), possibly belt/suspenders combo. Support is the main factor.
I have carried my Colt 1908 .380ACP with belt holster, in my right hip pocket.
