I'll pocket carry a Kahr PM9 in a DeSantis Nemesis Pocket Holster.

Mostly these days I pocket carry either a:

S&W M&P 340 J Frame Revolver at
Which do you think "feels" smaller? I pocket carry a j-frame and it's okay in jeans but I wear a longish untucked shirt... the PM9 I checked out seemed positively TINY by comparison. I came to the conclusion that it would be easier to pocket carry than the j-frame but apparently you have found otherwise... thoughts?

1K,
I'm a former PM9 owner who now carries a J-Frame. What it came down to for me:

1) The PM9 is smaller in size, but it weighs more. In the case of pocket carry, weight= printing. However, it was awesome for tuckable IWB carry.

2) I could never get my Kahr to run 100%. After the break in was over I had a few trouble-free range sessions, including my defensive loads. One night I used my PM9 to dispatch a deer that I'd hit with car. The round failed to eject. A huge deal? Not in the grander scheme, but I was hoping for better.

The 340, on the other hand, has been trouble free. I'd highly recommend one to anyone who's not married to 9mm for pocket carry. It's light, easy to carry in a variety of ways (IWB, Pocket, Ankle). I also like having the ability to fire .357 Mag or .38 Special, though I'll warn you that full throttle .357 rounds are a little rough on the hands of most shooters. Speer makes a "short barrel" GDHP round that I've found to be a reasonable compromise in power and recoil control.

Plus 7 rounds PM9 kahr, vs, 5 rounds Smith J frame, size about the same, Most smiths will weigh more. both nice pocket guns. PM9 my favorite by far..

You don't have to warn me. Full-house 158-gr loads out of my Airweight are positively punishing. I can't even begin to imagine how much it would hurt to fire a .357 out of it. *eek*

My 37 weighs about 15 oz unloaded... I'm pretty sure the PM9 is quite a bit lighter. But your scandium deallie is lighter than my aluminum frame.

Thanks for the feedback.

S&W 340 is 12 oz. Negligible, but like I said in a pocket weight contributes to printing.

Anyway, didn't mean to hijack the thread so bad. The PM9 is a fine pistol for the most part, and I wouldn't rule out owning one again.

My experience with PM9 similar to Psyopspec's- after several trips back to factory, has been 100% for the few times I've shot it since its last trip back.
Still don't completely trust it.

Nonetheless, I do sometimes carry it if front pocket, Nemesis holster.

Mostly carry 640/357 or 642/38Spl in same type of holster, front pocket. Had a 340/357, loved it, but it had the damned lock, and didn't trust it completely either, though it never gave any problems, even with 357 loads.

No problems with printing.

Kahr PM9 in DeSantis Nemesis, all day, every day.

The only time that I swap out to a 642 is when I travel by air since it is easier to show clear to the airline clerks.

Both seem to ride the same in the pocket.

Baby Glock

I pocket carry a Glock 26 in my jeans or my Dukuth Tradung Co khaki's. The khaki's have a small pocket inside the left pocket which can hold the muzzle of the G26 (27) or a spare mag.

Walther P99 A/S compact - it is the same size as a Glock 26. Been doing it for almost 3 years now. With cargo pants, it is easy. It could be ANYTHING in your pocket.

Everyday pocket rig.

Kahr MK9.
DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster.
Dual pocket magazine carrier by JS Holsters.
DeSantis #2 belt holster for when I don't pocket carry.
Wallyworld Winchester White Box 147gr JHP.
I wear cargo shorts or pants every day of the week.

Does anyone like the Kel-Tec PF-9 for pocket carry?

I did!!
Until after a month or two carrying the thing.
It worked perfectly up until this point.
I thought everything was just peachy keen!!
WRONG!!
My normal trip to the range to practice with the carry gun revealed that after 120 rounds, the trigger failed to reset!!
It's boxed up and ready to return to the womb for a second time!!
It's a terminated safe queen!!

My pocket carry (usually for the summer) is a Kel-Tec P-11, no problems at all.
I'm starting pocket carrying even in winter, my Bersa Thunder 40 (.40 $&W) full size is getting bigger by the day (belt holster usually) :D

I've pocket carried both Airweights and the PM9 and I have to say that I like the J-frame better. It prints as much or more, but it doesn't make a "gun-shaped" print. Still, the PM9 is TINY. You'll be fine with it except with tighter jeans, which for me, I can only wear in situations in which carrying a gun is ok/expected anyway.

I had a PF9 but I found the PM9 so superior in every respect that I didn't eve want to shoot the PF9 anymore so I sold the PF9 and will put the money toward a P32.

Thanks guys. I think you may be saving me time, money, and frustration. Sounds like the Kahr in a Desantis Nemesis, is the way to go.

My USPc 40 is just to wide and heavy for IWB carry on a daily basis. My Model 60 J frame is very convenient for pocket carry, but still a little heavy, only 5 rounds, and the speedloader/speedstrip issue. Seems to me that a pocket 9mm would fit the bill.

I'm still intrigued by the 340PD, but the Kahr is cheaper, carries more rounds, and only slightly heavier. Can't put my CT lasergrips on it though.

My apologies to the OP, but I didn't want to start yet another thread.
