The reloading section of THR is one of my best sources for finding primers. Saved my hide many a time. Started setting up for reloading Large Rifle about six weeks ago and for the life of me I cannot find any large rifle primers.

I looked for most of this year.

These recently came available.

Ginex Large rifle Primers 5 5/3-N (brass cup) 100 per box UPC: 810091154137 - Global Ordnance

Ginex Large rifle Primers 5 5/3-N (brass cup) 5000 per case UPC: 810091154144 - Global Ordnance

I bought some and they got to me fast. 12 or 13 for shipping too.

I encourage you to research first though. They have a reputation for being ever so slightly oversize and require some vigorous force to set in new brass. Apparently used brass is better.

I havent used them yet.

And again THR has saved my hide again. Just ordered 2K. Finger tips still smoking. I have various way of seating primers and I just ordered a primer pocket reamer just in case. Thank you so much earlthegoat2!

Sounds like a good primer for Federal brass.

I have been lucky enough to find large rifle primers, but I've been looking for and can not find large rifle magnum primers

I have a lot of lrm. Remington, Winchester and some Federal match. Spp has been tough for me to locate as well. As shotshell ones. Wish someone in n.e. pa was near to trade with. Some day..right?

The only reason I still have 1,000 LRM primers is I no longer use them for anything I load. I used to use them in the 45-70 when I was loading them with black powder but I haven't done that in many years now. I did when the only 45-70 I had was my Trapdoor but when I bought a Marlin levergun in 45-70 and black powder became harder to find I went to smokeless powder only.

My neighbor has been hunting for LRP since early on and has not found any. He has a few left and LRM + CCI#34 on hand. I watch for him and send him alerts when ever some one post some available. I check and there still there but out by the time it gets to the computer.

I don't shoot my Rem 7mm Mag a lot due to my back can not take the recoil. I have around 300 left which will last me the rest of my life at my current rate. I have around 3000 LR primers that I use in Rem 260 and 30-06 loads. These are hunting only so rarely do I use up 20/yr. I have SR primer brass in my 6.5 CM, made this decision early on since I was shooting a lot of 223R. Which I have enough to last me 5-10 yrs at my current rate.

Buy them cheap and stack them deep, when they become readily available.

If you’re OK with Cheddite primers, check Precision Reloading, Ballistic Products or Brownells. I’ve bought CHEDDITE 209s from all 3 in the last 6 months. And I’ve seen them since.

CCI 250s is the one I can’t seem to connect on.

I gave 300 away to 2 separate friends thinking I could replace them. I only use them in .338 and 7 mag but I wish I could stack another 1,000 under the 800 I have left.

I'm curious if a bunch of them are being used up on the army's new 277. Military likes big piles of ammo.

I gave a 1000 Remington LRP to my neighbor a few months ago. He was quite pleased. I'd bought them 6 or 7 years ago. I stocked up on CCI primers of all sizes, except magnum(no need), a couple of years ago(with a rebate). I did pay $75 for a 1000 CCI 209 primers a few months ago.

If you reload anything you should always have at least 500 (but probably 5000) of all types.

You just never know.

I never used LRP until this year. Luckily I had found 1000 at a swap meet years ago.

I bought the Ginex for added insurance.

Watch this thread. Natchez had them recently. Not cheap.

I bought a brick of CCI #34 LRP's from Natchez last month. They were $165 with shipping and hazmat. Since I couldn't find them anywhere else I didn't have much choice.

I thought I was in good shape as I had lots of large and small pistol and small rifle primers and I didn't have anything that needed large rifle. Then I bought a Savage Axis 2 in .308 and was caught unprepared.

For that cost hunting down small primer brass would have been a priority

Yes cheddite I have been using for my 410 and thr cheddite hulls. It's the 20 Guage hulls I need other primers for other hulls. Just traded for some noble 688's. Word is they can safely replace win209's.

The cheapest price I found for small rifle brass for .308 was over a dollar each, and out of stock everywhere at that, so the price for primers doesn't seem so bad.
