Las Vegas Range Day

June-July-August-September = indoors

Rest of the year = outdoors

Do you have a preferred range?

I would be interested. As long as we don't go to The Gun Store :)fire: ) i'm good to go. I prefer the desert, as me and range rules don't get along, but I could behave if nessecary. I personally love the Discount Firearms range. I think it's one of the better in town.

Just found this thread(thanks Vegas for telling me about the post:fire: ) Just kidding, Vegasego and I are best friends and we usually go shooting at American Shooters. Although, I think we are both intrigued with the discount range.

well wat does everyone wanna do? I could do either or, but I do think the desert around 4 or 5 would be good, not as much sun out, or we could go early in the morning, But im thinking maybe a range first, to meet up get to kow each other, than start going out to the desert.

Considering the current weather, I'd rather not be out in the desert during a lightning storn and downpour.

DFI or AS would be fine.

So if everyone is feeling the range for a little meet, lets pick a date for American or Discount.

Howdy Compadre's!

Well I could bring my cowboy guns or my CZ's--or both! I personally like American Shooters, but the last time I was there, 7/18, it was about 107 outside and about 101 on the range.

These guys have alway been helpful to me and American Shooters is really close to where I work.

If we wait until it cools off then Boulder Rifle & Pistol's free, open to the public range is pretty nice.

Vegas Range Day

Hey, this is great. What day of the week are we talking about? I am only available on Wed or Thurs. If it is on one of those days, I prefer Discount over all the others. The ventilation is horrible at American but great at Discount (my fav).

Well, if it's not Wed or Thurs, it's a moot point for me.

As for the desert... how about later, I like to know the people that I am going into the desert with!!!

AFIK, Boulder Rifle & Pistol is $5 a head or $5 a carload, can't remember, and has its public ranges open only on Tues, Thurs and Sat from 8 a.m. to dusk. Can't remember the Sunday schedule, but it might be at www.brpc1.org, IIRC.

I'm busy enough I probably can't make whatever date is chosen,so don't worry.

Was at American Shooters after dark about a week and a half ago, and their 50-yard rifle range was afflicted with rather poor lighting. Iron sights were quite hard to use. If you go there, bring your own pair of wrenches, b/c their target carriers now use all-thread on the vertical hanger, and the overly-violent motorized carriers *will* make your target start to twist about 10 yards into the trip. Gotta keep those locknuts tight.

Desert Sportsmen Rifle & Pistol Club

My preference would be Desert Sportsmen Rifle and Pistol Club.
They have a great range, and lots of access on weekends to participate in IDPA and USPSA events. Lots of fun, great atmosphere, great people.

Okay, how about this...

It looks like it will not be possible for everyone to get together because of schedules, location and favorite ranges. I would love to go to Desert Sportsman's but there is no way for me to do it, so here's my idea...

When you have a plan to go to the range, post it, and anyone who wants to join you can. Some people may be able to make to more than one range. I live real close to the Gun Store but I don't like their range and I don't care much for American Shooter's either.

I will be going to Discount Firearms this Thursday around 11am. Send me a PM if you want to go and we can work out the details.

Ironmike... I actually prefer to go around Noon, 1pm or 2pm but it just doesn't work for me this week. The following week should be fine.

Just wanted to post and let everyone who attended know that Vegasego sprained his wrist pretty bad last night and had to go to quick care. He unfortunately wasn't able to make it and I know that he probably doesn't feel like typing also. Hopefully, we can try again in the next couple of weeks to get something going again; how did it go for those who went?

Thanks ironmike5

I wondered what happened. Sorry to hear about VegasEgo. I hope he heals up quickly.

Gazpacho and I were there. I had to leave a little sooner than I wanted because I had an afternoon Doctor's appt. but it was a great to meet someone from THR. Of course, we will do it again and hopefully everyone can be involved.

I like to go to the range at least once a month, and more like every other week, if I can, so let me know when you want to meet.

It was fun, and meeting VegasDude was cool. I'm glad he didn't turn out to be a 17 year and 11 month old high schooler ( :) ). I got to shoot his 9mm Steyr, a new experience for me, which is always a cool thing. I zeroed my AR-15 and tried out DRI-SLIDE which is a Molybdenum Disulfide and Graphite based dry weapon lubricant. It performed fine through 100rds of Winchester Q3131, then 250rds of Federal XM193 fine. After that I started on the last of my UMC 223. at about 20 rounds the rifle doubled on me (I think, couldn't reproduce it) and after another 20 rounds I got a 100% FTF. Don't know if it was the ammo or lube, but I'm going to tear down the rifle tonight and take a good look-see.

I know that VegasEgo and I are going to the gunshow this weekend (primarily for ammo reasons). If anyone wants to meet up let us know and we can catch up there. I'm reading that it's a crossroads gun show, which could possibly be a little better than the Claude Hall's previous two?

Wat day are planning on going to the range next VegasDude? MY Wrist feels a little better, its just tender. Im pretty sure Ill live. I have Monday friday off next week so I'm down for any of those days.

I am usually not available on Friday but I just happen to be able to do it, this week. I am open as to the time and the range. I prefer DF and I prefer afternoons but you call it and I will be there.
