My first mauser build, this one a small ring Swedish mauser carbine in the uber accurate 6.5x55. 16" barreled action was already drilled and tapped for a weaver side mount which I wasnt too hot on but it has grown on me, especially since I can still use the williams peep and the scope is still centered on the bore. Reblued with Herters Belgian rust blue. Bolt handle reprofiled, jeweled, and handle checkered. Timney trigger and timney low profile safety installed. Got the Fajen stock off ebay, stripped it and 15 coats of Truoil. Scope is a Weaver K4 with an appropriate post reticle. First grouping was well under moa.
Whatcha think?

Just please tell me it was already bubba'd
and what did you do with the carbine stock?
the stock, and esp. the proper metal is hard as hell to find when restoring a Swede 94 to it's glory. That said, with a bubba rifle, it's very nicely done and makes a hell of a woods gun.

Beautiful and well done! Lots to lie about 6.5 x 55. Very handy package too.

Much like mine, built about 15 yrs ago. A 20 inch barrel, tack driving deer killin' machine.

Please, don't ruin the story by telling us that it was bought as a sporterized deal.

Its a much sexier story if you bought an original Swede in full MILITARY regalia and brought her to her Canadian Cabin for a much needed retirement from the Cosmoline Nazis. Oh Lordy! Its gettin' hot in here!

lol Abel, alas this one was already a D&T'd barreled action when I bought it. But good news, I have a minty m96 Swede thats full military that is due a barrel chop / crown and drill and tap later this year.

Ho, HUM...
Always nice to see someone take a 2-2.5K rifle and turn it into a $300 dollar job...
as for purist, buddy I don't have my M94, cause well, either I have to assemble it, (do you have the stock and fittings?? if so, open to selling them?) or buy one, and what I'd like is out of my budget, and the parts are hard to find

I said it's an awesome rifle, I have 3 that are converted, 2 VERY well done, and a 94 I got cause I though I could put her back together, and then found that the stock and fittings are, well yeah...

I'm not a purist, just a collector, thanks for assuming

If you would have taken the time to read just the 2nd sentence of my post you would see that it was already D&T'd before I got it, but instead you go immediatly with insults "bubba" rehtoric. I sold the valuble parts on ebay to help pay for the costs of the build. With things as bad as they are at the moment for gun owners, the worst thing is infighting between us. People have been sporterizing military arms as long as there have been military arms. The swede is a well made, very accurate, butter smooth platform in a hard to find deer dropping caliber. I dont want a rem-chester that every other hunter has in '06. I want a custom rifle, customized by my own hand how I see fit. If you dont like it or disagree with it, **** and post on another cosmoline worshiping site.

You have a really nice looking/shooting rifle. I have yet to see a regular mil rifle go for anywhere near 2 to 2.5 K. I believe that it is your rifle, do whatever the hell YOU want to. I started off with a great Swede and, for ME, made it better.

headoftheholler

Ignore the naysayers; that is one very sweet looking Swede you put together there! Keep up the good work.

great looking rifle, love that checkered bolt.

moose, there are many regular issue surplus rifles that go for more then 2.5k
most are now scarce and/or have conditional rarity, but where issued in large numbers.
