I have both. Like them both. Not much difference in size. The Bodyguard has some features that the LCP does not. Safety, double strike capability, better sights, slide lock after last shot. They are pretty close in price in my area. Does anyone like one over the other?

Well, if it were narrowed down to the two I like the LCP best between the two, but there are better choices out there.

The LCP has always worked for me. I didn't care for how the BG felt in hand. The LCP is the most basic of basic pocket pistols that fit my needs. I prefer to carry a .357 or .40 or .45, but most days in the summer months, an LCP stuffed into my back pocket is all I can sport.

I've got both, like them both, but carry the Bodyguard more since I'd found the LCP mag had been released during pocket carry several times so what can happen is: draw the gun, bring it on target, mag falls out or one shot & close on an empty chamber :(

but there are better choices out there.
Not that I've found.

I love Rugers & S&W , just not the LCP. There's a few more things on the BG to get hung up on, but between the two BG would be my choice hands down

Please do tell and give some reasons why. I am looking to scratch the pocket pistol itch (for times when my little Kahr CM9 is still too large) and have considered the M&P Bodyguard and LCP, but there are features of each that I don't care for (manual safety on the Bodyguard and no last-round slide stop on LCP).

I've considered the Kahr CW380, but have read some negative reports in terms of reliability (which is a little surprising, considering my CM9 has been flawless).

Other than those two with the BG on top, there's also the Taurus TCP & SIG P238. Both perform well with the P238 being #1 for sub compact 380's
IMO

I have both of these and they are very good, but neither of these work with steel cased ammo whereas my BG and LCP both do. You can dismiss this as because of "crap ammo" if you want, but to me it means the TCP and P238 have little operating margins and are running at the edges of their operational envelope.

I'll give the P238 the edge as the best of the small .380s at the range (best trigger, best sights, although its also the largest), but I prefer carry guns without ammo sensitivity issues.

Both of these get eliminated from my consideration because the SIG P238 has a manual safety (and needs to have it) and the Taurus TCP is a Taurus.

I have not and do not use steel ammo in any of my guns, but both my P238 and TCP have been flawless with everything else I have shot through them so I would hardly consider either ammo sensitive.

I will say that my LCP does NOT like Tula .380 AT ALL. That's about the only thing bad I can say about that little blaster.

Hello Fiv3r,,,

I will say that my LCP does NOT like Tula .380 AT ALL.

Where mine eats it like candy.

It's amazing how different samples of the same gun can perform so differently.

It's a good thing too,,,
TulAmmo was all I could find for the longest time.

The TCP was/is only sensitive to Tulammo. I polished the feed ramp as I do all semi's and its been 100% ever since with FMJ and HP.
Taurus gets a bad rap sometimes and there are problems with some just like Kimbers etc too. I've got two TCP & PT745 that are 100% trouble free. The PT745 will even shoot Tulammo

Now that the BG can be had without the laser I'd be interested in checking one out. I really like my LCP and have no reason to replace it.

Oh and it will shoot tula willingly, along with everything else I've tried up until now.

Between the LCP and the Bodyguard (I would go with the new version without the laser), I would go with the Bodyguard. Good ergonomics, a decent trigger, and easy to acquire sights plus it's a good fit for my smaller sized hand.

I've owned both. The BG380 is superior in several ways and lacking in none. The sights are better, the slide and barrel are more robust, second strike trigger, slide lock, and the option of a safety if you want it. If you are planning on pushing the limits of the caliber with the more powerful 380 loads I would definitely choose the BG over the LCP for its thicker barrel chamber.

Had a LCP a while back and it was a great little shooter. Far more accurate than I would have thought for a little pocket .380.

Only got rid of it because it was just too little for me.

I'll second the fact that both guns are far more accurate than you would think. I've shot clay pigeons at 30 yards with my BG380 and I don't mean I fired a bunch of shots and got lucky once or twice. The LCP has limited sights but that has nothing to do with its mechanical accuracy. I'm sure guys with a laser on theirs will attest to that.

That pesky safety could cost you your life someday... Or save it. Depends on the situation.
The main thing I don't care for is that's its something to potentially get snagged up on.

LCP was my choice

Last month I decided to retire my IA PPK/S .380 from CCW duty and replace it with a smaller and lighter .380. There was nothing wrong with the PPK/S and it works great for IWB carry - but it is just too heavy and large for pocket carry. I don't own any 9mm pistols and since I already handload .380 I decided to stick with .380. I wanted a small light .380 that I could pocket carry year round and not have to always holster-up.

I looked at all the small .380 pistols on the market, did my research, read endless reviews, considered the pros and cons and distilled my choices down to the final two. There were numerous good small .380 offerings and some not so good offerings. My final two choices were also between the BG and the LCP.

I selected the LCP. It is a bit smaller and lighter than the BD but what I liked about the LCP was the form factor - it is more rounded and has less to hang up on during a pocket draw.

I've had the LCP out to my range twice so far and it has performed flawlessly through 250 rounds of my XTP and LRN reloads. As others have stated, I too was surprised at the accuracy - I shot the LCP as accurately as the PPK/S. Before I even fired a shot though I replaced the stock guide rod and recoil spring with a SS guide rod and 13# spring. The new generation LCP also has improved sights and trigger. I'm very satisfied with my choice of the LCP.

Seeing as this is a DAO emergency weapon and you should always follow the four rules, it seems to be more likely to be the prior situation than the latter.
