I just bought a LCP for my wife to carry. Now I know this is a point shooting gun and the sights are not really worth much. But. If she ever needs it, I would like her to have a hi vis front sight to focus on.

So, I have been taking the gun apart and I've found that there is a little bit of room just behind the front sight where the barrel locking block doesn't reach. This would be a good spot to install a Novak Glock fiberoptic front sight. This sight has a tapered edge so it is snag free. It would look a little weird being set back a little from the front, but it would achieve the purpose.

I have painted the existing front sight but it really doesn't help much at all.

Anyone have any experience with this? Or any other sights that would work better?

Or talk me out of my stupid idea. That's always an option. ;)

Well Luke, the first thing that shocked me about my LCP was the realization that Ruger can make a gun which isn't heavy.

That in mind, I doubt there is s lot of safety margin to go drilling holes, but I'm not a gunsmith.

I certainly wouldn't call your idea stupid, but we do have to realize what the LCP is and why some of the nice features which make it a good carry gun make it a lousy range gun.
