I would strongly recommend the DoubleTap defense in 9mm.
Statistically speaking, the odds of needing more than 2 shots in SD are low. I believe the FBI did a study were the average rounds fired in a defensive shooting was 3 shots, so in a way "2 out of 3 ain't bad" as it were. Honestly is someone is still postured to fight after absorbing two 9mm 147 gr. +P+ loads to center mass it's time to beat feet anyhow and egress the DA (danger area).
Nothing in it's class is smaller. If you're worried about reloads for more ammo, DoubleTap sells two-round speed strips than can be stored in the gun's grip area and can be used to execute a rapid reload of the gun and have it back in action in a couple of second with practice. Weight is just 15 oz and with a pricetag of $499 it is a steal IMHO.
