Had to tell someone I just bought a brand new Ruger LCR for only 395. I think it's a great deal and had to share so there it is will hopfully hit the range tomorrow. All in all for the price and the weight I think I will have an excellent new carry gun for the summer.

I paid $380 for mine NIB when they first came out:neener:

I hope you like yours as much as I like mine.

Yeah... that revolver looks like butt.

Sorry, but when I pay 400 bucks for gun, I like it to be pleasent to look at.

That just doesnt compare to a smith looks wise.

I didnt marry my wife just because she was a "purposefull design" and had a sweet trigger and good recoil reduction. :)

Sometimes, things being easy on the eyes is a good thing.

$1400, maybe but $400 is on the low end for quality pistols these days at that price point I expect things to go bang and shoot to point of aim.

Looks are very subjective. I don't think the lcr is ugly as some people do. I actually think it looks better than some of the shrouded smiths. That said, it is a carry weapon not a range toy or a BBQ gun. I would as soon have a beautiful gun as not, but the LCR and other guns like it are meant to be a tool. Do you buy a chainsaw based on which is prettiest?

I care much more about function on a carry gun than looks. The thing is going to be in my pocket the vast majority of the time. IF the LCR worked better than the SW it would be rather absurd to buy the SW because it was prettier if your intention was to carry the thing to protect your self from death or serious bodily harm. There are times when it is wise to be practical. For a carry gun pretty is as pretty does. And this from someone who feels strongly that matching leathers also applies to my holster. :)

What I really want is a SP101 with an LCR esque trigger pull.

Call me crazy, but I'd love my wife if she suddenly looked like Atilla the Hun. I didn't really marry her for her looks, though she's easy on my eyes.

There are other qualities and in revolvers, when you're relying on the gun for your life, looks is at the bottom of the list. I frankly don't give a nit what the gun looks like if it's 100 percent reliable, has a smooth trigger so that I can consistently put shots on target, and it's built as strong as this Ruger is. It's a tool, not a "trophy wife". I'm not out to impress you except if you are trying to kill me. Then five rounds of .38 +P will make the impression. I've got some guns I like looking at. I carry guns that shoot and carry well. Hard to carry an engraved .45 Blackhawk with Sanbar stag grips in a waste band.

I don't buy a snubby to look at. It needs to be reliable and conceal well.

FWIW, I think the LCR looks cool anyway.

I've had my LCR for about 6 weeks and can't say enough good about the gun.
The most surprising thing was the lack of recoil. Today, I fired 200 rounds of mild reloads without a problem and no sore hands tonight. BTW, I don't care what it looks like, it goes bang everytime and that's all that matters.

Looks a lot better then a Kel-tec (IMO of course :) )

and I will say, I seen a lot of "Semi-auto only" types that are (re)discovering the good points of a revolver due to this design.

I wish you guys well - the LCP has had it's problems. I left the Ruger camp last year - the 642 looks pretty good to me - and, 2.5 yr later, it still works perfectly - and is accurate, too. Mine even has the IL on it!

The local pusher has $409 on his LCR.
