as the title says-. I have 2 large coffee cans with 5, 6 and 8 shot mixed together.
Is there a device to sort these? I don't care much for the 5&6 mixed. But would like the 8 removed for more standard use.
Small screen or drilled out piece in a funnel is about the only thing I can come up with.
Thanks, Bob

Either screen, hardware cloth or similar. Of course the question begs - why are they mixed in the first place? I have used reclaimed which is mixed with everything from 7.5 to 9, but that is the way it comes - and for practice - it works fine.

Don't waste your time. By the time you get past getting the #8 out you will be ready for the looney bin. The #5 and #6 are so close that it isn't worth the effort just reload it and call it your duplex round.

I have a plastic peanut butter jars that I have dumped shot in for years. Shot from old shells too corroded to shoot small amount left in shot bags picked up at yard sales and flea markets. etc Friends Know I save it and bring shot and old shells to me often . It has from a few size #2 to #8 shot in it. My muzzle loading 12 ga is fed from this jar .

Take a flat aluminum plate and mount a blade (metal pallet strap) or bar (aluminum stock).
Adjust the gap to whatever size shot you want to pass/retain.

Works for brass, so maybe would work for your shot?

Unless you are reloading these for a registered tournament, just load them up and shoot them. I have reloaded reclaimed shot for over 20 years. It is a mix of 7.5-9 with a little steel now and again - breaks targets just fine.
