I have a Kimber Eclipse. I don't plan on carrying this concealed often, if at all. But I'm looking for an easy on/easy off holster for it -- so a paddle-style would work best. Anyone have a recommendation for one in leather, without a thumb break? This is basically for home range use.

There is a bunch of technology and parts tied up in a paddle holster. As you can see by the above holsters, all that technology and parts can make paddle holsters pretty pricy.

Another option for the easy on/easy off holster is the snap on/snap off holster most famously represented by the Alessi CQC-S.

There are many that use this basic design and quite a few are fairly inexpensive.

I've seen all offer leather paddle holsters for less than $100. Good looking holsters.

Don't think all paddle holsters will just pull right off. I have a couple of Galcos that require me to literally drop my pants to remove. The little leg on the inside of the paddle is made to grip your belt and prevent the holster from coming out on the draw.

A valid point. Forum moderator 9mmepiphany has explained on a couple of occasions, the paddle holster advantage is not that it is easy on/easy off, but that you can position it on your belt regardless of where your belt loops are. The snap on/snap off holsters are often easier to put on and take off.

I ended up ordering one from Ross Leather. The one I ordered was not in stock as advertised, so they offered to and are shipping me a more expensive suede-lined one for the same price. So no review on the actual holster yet as it is taking longer than expected but +1 for their customer service.

Update - Received the Ross holster today. A bit delayed as the holster I ordered, listed "in stock" was not in stock. They emailed me with a 6-8 week production estimate, but said that a higher-priced, suede-lined version was in stock and they would ship me that immediately for the same price. Great CS! Took the deal.

From what I've played with the holster I'm very happy with this choice.

Top leather paddle rigs.....

I'd suggest the top rated Kramer MSP style holster. It was R&Ded by Greg Kramer for the MI State Police.
Other well known leather holsters include; Milt Sparks, Don Hume, Galco, DeSantis, Mitch Rosen.
A custom rig might take a few months due to high demand. Contact any holster shop first to make sure they have what you pay for. Minor changes or modifications are common in the US gun industry.

The new holster firm: www.Wrightleatherworks.com has a few paddle types too. The prices are decent & they come in several colors. I like coffee. :D

340PD, pretty busy now but will post pics when I can. I don't typically carry a $1200 pistol that took me 21 months on order to acquire for CCW, but I have several times just to try it and it has worked out fine with loose enough clothing (I have a comparatively small frame).
