[Solved] Walther P38 Modern Paddle Holster?

Anyone know of a modern OWB paddle holster for the Walther P38/P1?

I am talking about something like the Fobus and Uncle Mike style Kydex or molded tactical holsters and all that I can find are the WWII style German Army holsters plus a very few leather belt holsters.

I have recently acquired a 9mm P38 that is quite accurate and would like to use in our local relaxed rules USPSA style competitions.

I don't know where you are in NC, but here is a guy, Rick Holmes, making kydex holsters in High Point, NC. You may want to see if he could make something for you if you brought your pistol to him.

P38 Holster

I live in Transylvania County - a far piece from High Point, NC. Thanks for the tip but I don't make it by there often.

I was pretty sure you'd need to bring your gun to somebody to make a holster for that gun, but I guess not.

I usually start a holster search with Blade-Tech as they cover just about everything, but I didn't think they'd cover the P-38, but they do.

REF the Bianchi holster at Midway
says it fits the Beretta 92 and P.38.
Wow. I always assumed Bianchi holsters were a little on the "generic fit" side of things, but that seems like such a reach to fit the Beretta 92 and the Walther P-38. Sure, they are both DA/SA auto's, and have a slide mounted safety, and I think their recoil systems are the same (that's internal), but the resemblance ends there. They're not even close.

Well, my Plastic Uncle Mikes (or Tactical Sports, I can't remember) Plastic $15 Glock 30 belt holster also works for my Beretta 92, so I guess you never know until you try.

1kperday- the bladetech HOLX000872446283 certainly does not look like it would hold a p38 . I live in a small town with very little selection . I think I'll go by the one place that has some holsters and see how some beretta holsters fit

What picture are you looking at? The 1911 holster on that page is just a stock photo. Go to that link and put the correct info in the manufacturer, style etc. windows.

Or click here:

still shows a 1911 stock photo, but the info is what you want, right? P.38 paddle holster?

You can also have them make it with belt loops of different widths, different colors, etc. if you want. Blade Tech is good stuff.

Listen to 1KPerDay. That is a stock 1911 holster photo at the Blade-Tech site.

If Blade-Tech says they make a holster for the Walther P38, it will fit the Walther P38. It will be an exact fit for that gun.

The best place to buy a quality holster is on the internet. You can order a holster that will fit your gun perfectly, and has all the features you want.

The local gun store is practically never a good place to buy a good holster.

Listen to 1KPerDay.
OK, well maybe not everything he said.

A holster made for a Beretta 92FS may allow you to insert a P38 into the holster, but I don't think it would work properly.

Get the Blade-Tech, it looks like it has everything you are looking for. It should be a much better product than the Fobus and Uncle Mike's holsters you mentioned in your OP.

1kperday - yeah, the 1911 photo is not instilling confidence. Tomorrow I will telephone them and get some verbal reassurance that the P38 will be a perfect fit. I have been burned before (by Uncle Mikes) where the wording indicated a fit but that wasn't the case when the holster arrived. A little conversation with Blade-Tech should, hopefully, reassure me.

Blade Tech is to Uncle Mike's as Ferrari is to Yugo.

You can be confident in their product and in their customer service. But I understand your concern. They have so many options and configurations it probably didn't make sense to snap a pic of every one. Plus they often don't make the holster until you order it. Particularly for a very rare bird like the P.38.

I may get one myself.

P38 Modern Holster

I left a message at BladeTech for a call back. Meanwhile, while it isn't exactly what I seek, one on eBay is at least somewhat modern and based on the outline in the photo, definitely for a P38. I am holding out for kydex-paddle.

Update

Today, I spoke with "Viccki" at BladeTech. She indicated that with the thousands of pistol types that photos of the P38 in a holster was "impossible". She said that they would make one upon order and that there was a 30-day return policy should I not like it. I guess that I'll spring for one given the return policy. They must now have a blue gun for molding the P38.
