i have lee auto disk powder measure with double disk kit i am looking for a good charge for .223 55gr. bullet tac powder need proper disc numbers or cc #s which 2 holes any help would be great. just plinking loads.

Trial and error. You will just need to try different combo's until you get the drop you want. If you use two different size holes make sure the smaller hole is in the top disk. I got tired of messing with it and bought a perfect powder measure for loading 223. I found an adapter that will let me mount the PPM to my rifle charging die. I have to cycle it by hand but am much happier.

If you feel like an additional $20 expense, get two of the adjustable charge bars. Trim a little bit off the index nubs off one of the charge bars - just enough so that you can stack them together. Look closely at the bottom of the charge bar and you'll see how those index nubs work.

Throw out the discs and put the stacked adjustables in there. Adjust them so that both cavities are identical and test the powder drop. Keep adjusting both charge bars equally until you get the drop you want. Once you get it tuned, and it won't take long to do, it'll be dead on every single time.

I am on the road, but I can check when I get home - I use a AutoDisk to drop TAC for my 223 training loads. PM me if I forget to get back to this thread...

I REALLY like this idea. I'm thinking there is going to be a new reloading order in my very near future.

I almost hate to admit that it took me years using a fixed disk with an adjustable on top, and never having it work as well as I wanted, and with an extra adjustable charge bar sitting less than 24 inches away before I realized I could experiment with the dual charge bars.

On the other hand, I'm not sure I'd recommend this setup if one is building a powder drop system from the ground up - I think the final cost is right on the verge of being too high (PAD, DD kit, charge bar X2). I'm sure there are better options for the same or less cost. But if you already have the PAD and DD kit, then the extra cost of the ACB's isn't all that bad to finally end up with a very reliable powder drop.

It would be real nice if Lee simply dropped the disks altogether in favor of the ACB.

According to Ramshot 4.5, a good 55gr load for TAC would run somewhere between 23gr and 26gr, depending on the specific bullet used. For my training loads, I drop 24gr TAC using a single 1.57 disk.

Here is a link on the Lee Site for Powder VMD's so you can make the calculations you need for TAC.

Here's a link to the instruction sheet for the Pro Auto-Disk and on the second page they list the disk numbers you will need including the Double-Disk combination. At the very bottom of the page is the formula you can use along with the VMD to find the Volume of powder to use with the disk chart.

You can print them both and use them any time.

The adj bar from Lee will throw up to 26gr of tac with just one bar no need to stack. I have mine set at 24gr. still have a little ways to go out with it.
