Can someone explain the pros and cons of the Lee Double Disc Kit vs. Lee Auto Disk Adjustable Charge Bar? I am new to reloading and am cautiously trying not to over buy or under buy my accessories for my Lee Classic Turret Press.
This is to go with my Lee Pro Auto Disk Powder Measure.
Do I need both? If not which is best?
Thanks for your help.

I dont use my doudle disc any more.Charge bar works great for what i load.40 cal,223.Double bump charge station for 223.Have fun and be SAFE,shooting your own ammo is great.

I prefer the double disk kit. I have had too many problems with the charge bar being inconsistant. I'm also not comfortable having to run the case into the powder die twice to get the charge, but thats just me.

I find the charge bar works well for 9mm (4-5 grains), but I had trouble getting it to 2.9-3.2 grains for .380, which I just started loading last night. I put the disk back in (.34) and it measure 2.9 gr of VV N320 consistently. I only need the double disk for .223, as I just can't squeeze enough out (24 gr) from the bar.

I have both. The Charge Bar is very convenient and easy to set up. However, I find it to be less consistent than the discs with flake powders. My theory is the corners of the bar don't get filled consistently each cycle.

Adjustable charge bar is about the max of the single disk and is infinitely adjustable.

Double disk doubles the capacity: 1.26cc x 2. You can get up to 40gr of certain powders.

Both give up precision/accuracy for speed.

I had the same question two years ago when I started at this obsession (I mean hobby).

I'm not loading any small capacity pistol rounds, so I can live with the limited adjustability of the disk set.

I've actually heard of some guys stacking the adjustable charge bar under a disk to get precise charges with larger volumes.

Any of you guys doing this??

I ordered the 2x disc kit with my new LCT and so far have been very impressed with the accuracy. Thought about a charge bar just in case, but I'm pretty happy with what I got.

I have a charge bar, tried it, didn't like it, it does not fill as evenly as the round disc cavities.
I bought extra disks and I reamed them to drop whatever I want. Stack two custom discs to get a rifle load I like. But that's my $.02 and worth what you paid for it.
