Quick question... which would be better (define it as you will: handier, easier, more accurate, etc.) for measuring powder charges for plinking/varmint loads for the .223 for AR use: Lee perfect powder measure or Lee Auto Disk (with double disk kit)?

I have the perfect powder measure; I would have to order the double disk kit for my Auto Disk that I use for my pistol loads.

The drawback I see to the Auto Disk system is it doesn't allow for precise charge adjustments like the perfect powder measure.

Thanks,
Q

Edit: Or, would the adjustable charge bar be a better option to use with the Auto Disk, thereby allowing the speed of the auto disk with the accuracy & precision of the perfect powder measure?

For me, it depends on the press you're going to loading with. Single stage I'd stick with the PPM. If you want to run these with a turret the Auto disk with the adjustable charge bar would be my opinion.

I have only used the pro auto disk with the double disk kit for 223 on my classic turret. You can use different size holes ( small hole on top ) to fine tune the powder drop. It meters very good with W748 and H335 powders and throws very consistant powder drops. I don't know about the perfect powder measure.

i have a perfect powder measure. and it leaves little pieces of powder every time i turn it to load powder.i find a lot of powder on my table. is this normal? sorry about stealing your thread. new to reloading

You can tighten the screw on the side plate (careful of stripping it!) so that the handle rotates the unit freely while still cutting down the gap powder is escaping from. The PPM will still almost always seep some with the finer powders.

And for the OP: With the Lee turret the Auto Disk with double disk kit and adjustable charge bar is the way I'd go.

Seems you have it figgered out.
