I have a LCT (Lee Classic Turret)Press. That is annoying me when I'm depriming /resizing brass.the spent primers shoot every where and not down the tube. Does anybody know why this is happening? Its kind of annoying

I have them pop out once in a while but very few. I do keep the primer holder in all the time.

Are you depriming milsurp brass? Those crimps cause more pressure needed to deprime and tend to launch spent primers faster.

As RealGun mentioned, is your primer cup/carrier mounted?

No its 444marlin brass and no primer cup is on the press.I have the press in single stage since I want to use a hand primmer Im just starting to reload for the first time. I for got to mention that I did oil and wipe down the press.....I live in humid Florida.

Or, get a fat drinking straw and cut as needed to fit the length of the ram. All primers go down slick.

Ok thanks I thought I could get away with not using the primmer cup without the Lee Safety Prime

Yes to the primer thing a ma jiggy needing to be in place, I prime off press and have dealt with this. I just cover it with a narrow band of packing tape..and don't lower the ram all the way down. I wish Lee made a little cover you could snap over the hole.

Its funny, when I first started I was cussing this press for doing it. "Friggin thing spits primers everywhere, what a crap design"..Then I realized why.

Yea me too. I was like WHAT THE!??.... Ohhhhhh D'oh.. BTW the Straw thing works.

I don't use the priming device (hand prime).
To stop flying primers, I just used a bunch of appropriately sized o-rings to cover the slot in the ram.

Hey wait, what Straw thing A P for the C?

And Taro, Im guessing you just slide the O-rings over the ram? How many of them? What kind, I dont think you're talking about the O rings to hold a die in place..? Nevermind that last one, but what kind of O rings, (at least Im thinking there are more than one kind)

Straw thing - take the shell holder off and slide a large diameter drinking straw down into the ram, leaving it just high enuf for the shell holder to go back in. I think I got mine at McDonalds - you want the large straw that just fits the hole in the ram.

Ok I still might still have the other half of the staw I used for my RCBS Chargemaster 1500 Combo

Cool thanks very much. Another reason I love the forum here..

I like the straw idea, provided it doesnt want to rattle off the ram every other stroke..?

Why not just leave the primer arm installed?? With the shell holder in it does not come out?

This brings back memories. Took me a long search on the Internet one night to find out that my press wasn't defective and the little primer arm had to be on the press to direct the spent primers. Since I store them off the press hung up on magnets, I occasionally still forget as I start decapping and have the little buggers running about till I remember.
