I know, I know, you get what you pay for...having said that:

I am having problems just getting this thing set up.

It will not index. If I manually push the indexing rod in and out, it will index, but raising and lowering the ram does nothing. What's the fix?

Also, any other suggestions for getting this thing up and running (it's brand new) would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Stinger

I know this isn't much help but ,
did you look on Leeprecision.com
in the frequently asked questions section maybe it can help.

Good Luck , Bill (I got the pro1000)

The indexer can be manually pushed through to turn the turret, but when cycling, nothing seems to push the indexer back towards the user (me).

The FAQ didn't really seem to help me at all.

There's a little projection near the top of the press where the plastic cap on the indexing rod is supposed to be turned slightly (don't remember which direction for sure I think clockwise, and I sold my LM so I can't check). Once it's turned at the top of the stroke, it will catch on an incline built into the press to pull the rod out about 1.5 inches, I think. You advance to the next station by positively pushing the handle all the way in on the return stroke.

The shell plate base may need adjustment to make this work. I think there are directions how to do this in the manual, but I don't remember for certain. I DO remember that this issue is one of the two main reasons I got rid of my LM. The fragile priming system is the other one.

Okay,

I found the problem and will post the solution in case somebody in the future has a similar problem and goes searching for answers.

It was really quite simple. The carrier plate was pushed counter-clockwise, and needed readjustment. Just follow the directions in the manual, or online at Lee Precision.

The reason that I didn't check this at first was because the manual stated that the only time you would have to readjust the carrier was if it was removed.

It works like a charm now.

I'll also throw this out there:

I ran into the same problem of Not Indexing when I was setting up .45acp too, ironically.

Anyways, I had to actually turn my ram just a bit to get everything back in time. There are instructions on how to do this in the Loadmaster manual. The ram was like 1 degree off center, and that meant the index rod didn't have quite enough tension to index properly.

Okay,

I'm starting to get fed up with this press already.

The plastic tip on the indexer rod is damaged (both of them, actually).

I don't use the Loadmaster to prime, but the priming mechanism is damaged as well.

The darn chain on the powder measure keeps breaking, and even when it was not broken, I had to manually pull down on the lever to get it to reset.

I have loaded about 250 rounds so far (manually pushing the rod in and out because after I got the carrier readjusted, the second plastic tip became damaged.

I have been raising and lowering the handle very smoothly, and definitely not hard.

I think I might send it back in.

OH POOH!!! :cuss: :cuss: :cuss: :cuss: :cuss: :cuss:
