Hi, I recently got my 50th anniversary kit and love it so fat. 've loaded some 38 special and a few .357 mag and now I want to load for my only hunting rifle a Ruger m77 in the venerable .270. I would like to use if with 90 grain varmint rounds and 150 grain nosler partition for deer and elk. Which dies do I want? It seems the deluxe set is better so I can use fround Brass from another gun. Also, feel free to recommend some powders that hopefully can accomodate both bullet weights. thanks, Jeff

I can't say what die set you want but I would want the Deluxe set. I like having both a FL and neck die for rifles and the Lee Collet Neck Sizer is the best of it's type, IMHO.

For rifle calibers, well all calibers,I prefer rcbs as the norm and lyman and others are ok as well.Had a bad experience with lee dies [ crimping]so i usually try to purchase other brands. To be fair, that was twenty yrs ago, maybe their better now.

I have the deluxe set and it works very nicely. Great groupings and easy to size the brass. Never used other .270 dies so I have nothing to compare them with - just my opinion.

Just remeber that the deluxe dies do not include the Lee Factory Crimp die but does include the neck sizer as well as the full length sizer. You can always buy the FCD seperately.

But, why would you want to?

No need atall to crimp the .270 unless you are shooting it in a semi-auto.
