I have been reloading for a long time, over 20 years. Have used a Lee "Perfect" powder measure for awhile now. It works pretty decent with powders such as IMR 3031 and 4064, but does not work worth a hoot with ball type powders, as the powder literally will pour out the side of the measure. I guess cheaper is not always better. Hate to spend what RCBS or Hornadys measures cost, but looks like I might have to.

Trouble with ball powders is a known phenomenon with these powder measures. At one time, it was noted as so within the directions supplied by Lee. Not a biggie, because the plastic wiper system that gives the trouble with ball powder is the same system that makes these measures work well with big stick powders.

Buy a good Redding with both the Rifle and Pistol chambers and be done with it. Use the Lee for those times when you need to measure big, stick powders.

Lee Powder Measure and ball powders ....

...are not meant for one another. I like my LPPM, but with 231, 296, etc. it is a PITA. It seems to handle extruded powders like H335 & H322 just fine, those ball propellants end up all over the place. Now I just 'dip' those.

I ran 1k of 223 through my lee pro 1000 the other day using the PPM
with Ramshot TAC a very fine ball powder. after all was said and done..
I did a cleanup and collected about 17gr of powder that had leaked out.
not too bad considering the 25000 grains I put through it in that run.
when using unique I have 0 leakage,
