I use the Lee 4 hole turret press. The auto disk along with a good trickler is very precise. Thinking of trying the Lee perfect powder measure . Since I am no math wiz, how difficult are they to set up and set for a certain charge .Thanks.

Mine works fine. Its a little clunky compared to some higher end ones. But it produces consistant drops. At low 380 charge levels I make sure to give the handle a little tap on the up and down strokes. My checks are well withing .2 grains. Just zero in on the desired charge. It will leak a tiny bit with really fine powders like H110. Adjusting the pivot screw will keep it to a minumum.

I like my PPM, it works well for me, but it's not perfect.
Easy to adjust, price is right,
I don't see it as a replacement for the Pro Disk, two different beasts IMO.
I use mine mostly for rifle charges, but it will throw smaller charges as well.

I think it's important to take it apart and wash it with dish detergent then dry with rinsing optional. Some say not rinsing helps reduce static cling. Either way take a used dryer sheet and wipe the inside of the hopper. Before reassembling it a good idea to sprinkle some powder graphite to the mating surfaces or after you put it back together then run at least one hopper full of powder thru it, one cycle at a time. This "lubricates" its vitals and helps it run smoother and be more consistent.

If as you say you don't like math and haven't calculated the VMD it's not a big deal. Find your powder on the instruction sheet that came with the and it will give you the approximate CC setting. Then just adjust the micrometer to that setting. This will be only approximate so it will be necessary to make a few changes to get precisely what you want. Now this will require going back and forth a few times. It will also take 5 to 10 dispensing to get this or any measure to settle down and get consistent measurement.

Here is a link for suggestions for making improvements to the PPM: http://jconninv.com/HowTo/howto.leePPM.shtml

chief99, here is an adapter that will let you mount the Lee's PPM onto your LCT. It will screw into the charging die.

I didn't buy this one, but it gave me the idea of making my own.

As daboone said, it is simple. Taking the VMD for your powder off the chart and times it by your charge weight. That will give you the CC setting.

Varget VMD is .0731. Say you want a 47.5 gr. charge.

.0731 x 47.5 = 3.47225

So you would set the micro adjustment at 3.47 cc, and work from there.

I loosened the screw on the handle, filled the bottom part with dry graphite. Threw several loads with leakage, tightened the screw, threw more graphite, with leakage, kept doing this until no leakage. Made the handle easier to turn with the tighter screw. Took about a dozen tappings after I was done to get all the graphite out. Did another dozen a few hours later and got any remaining graphite out. Works great for me now.
