Hello all,
Been absent for a while between work and family, and loading pistol rounds.
I sat down the other day to tinker on making a DIY modified 223 case. Well that didn’t go as planned.
so I lubed up a 223 case with Horandy one shot both outsized and in the neck. Let it dry, set up my Lee sizing die and ran it in. Went in a little harder than I remember, and well wouldn’t come out. Stripped the sides case head from the shell holder. So I go to disassemble the die and take the decapping/expander rod out and it wouldn’t come through the case mouth.
Ended up having to ruin the entire decapping rod so that I could drill and tap the case head to use the RCBS stuck case remover which was a PITA as well (tap snapped off two thread cuts in) had to dremel it out. Lucky i got it out and has enough case material left and got a new tap from menards. (Still waiting on a reply from RCBS on why they include a crap tap in their kits...)
so the case is out and now I’ll have to replace the decapping rod on my Lee die, or just but a different brand. Wondering if anyone else has been having issues with the expander not coming through/getting stuck?
