An interesting gun, though. The original pin-fire cartridge dates to 1836, not to the late 19th centuryt. The guns were very popular in Europe and the pin-fire had basically the same place there as rimfire cartridges had here. Quite a few of the guns were used in the Civil War by the Union cavalry and ammunition was made for them on government contract. A few were used by the South; Stonewall Jackson's 7mm is in a Richmond museum.
