I am a lefty and would appreciate assistance regarding these two choices.

The CZ 452 American .22 lefthand bolt model ($337 at thegunsource.com) with no sights.

The Marlin 39a Golden .22 lever (righthand eject) $379 at walmart with sights.

I will be doing 90% shooting with friends at targets versus 10% hunting.

My question mainly is, will the Marlin's sideport ejection eject into my face?

I have read many who like the CZ452's accuaracy, but I prefer the aethetics of the 39a lever, however. But if I am going to get nicked
about with shells.....

In addition, I am not at the point of getting scopes, rather, just easing in and using iron sights, particularly with the lever. (Pistols and pump shotgunning is it for usgage so far.)

Thanks

My daughter is right-handed/Left eye dominant, she really liked my 39M. She is not a stock crawler but I am and I have shot it both right and left and I have not been hit with brass.

You've been looking at the CZ-452 American, which is set up for a scope. If you are interested in iron sights look at the CZ-452 Lux.

I solved the dilemma you are in by buying both. ;)

Thanks. Good input.

I see your daughter is shooting lefty although she is right-handed. I wonder if I should try shooting righty as my opposite eye ( my right eye) is very dominant and also sees better to boot. My natural instinct is to grab the trigger with my left however.

Thanks for the recommendation regarding the CZ Lux as well. However I dont' think that it comes lefty, at least it doesn't seem to be so on the CZ-USA website.

i'm left handed and right eye dominant, and i've come to the conclusion that a repeatable hold on the rifle beats a slightly better sight picture any day, particularly on a levergun.

Hold is better than eye

Hold is better than eye:

Interesting. Appreciate your help. Do you close your good right eye to use your left? Or are you able to try and use both.

Shooting lefty, I have tried to use both eyes, the limited times that I have done that, but the left weak eye's view is almost negligible compared to the right's, so I have to close my good right to get the left's view to appear. I can sometimes barely see the left's view when using both eyes but it is faint and really hard to pick out.

I always heard that one should try and use both but I haven't found yet that I can.

i shoot with one eye open only. as far as i'm concerned, i'm trying to line up the sights over the target, not solve a magic eye puzzle ;)

I have a 452 and a Marlin 39A and 39M. I like them all. The 452 has a scope, the Marlins have receiver sights. While the Marlins are accurate, they aren't in the same league as the 452.
My mother is right handed, left eye dominent. I got her shooting by closing her left eye and shooting right handed with her non-dominent right eye. It was easier for her to shoot right handed than left handed.

The Marlin 39A is an American classic....

The other one is just another bolt .22.:D

I've shoot left-handed and have never had a problem with my Marlin's empties.
I like the versatility of the lever over the bolt.

For most of the uses to which a .22 rimfire is put, the Marlin is
sufficiently accurate.:)

I am curious about versatility that you have from the lever that you don't have as much of from the bolt. What versatility do you mean? Thanks.
