ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

Thanks in advance

I don't know about the specific law and regulation, but I don't argue with the idea that gun storage is a safety issue--albeit easily resolved. "There's the safe. All firearms are stored there. It's locked."

Not sure about Iowa specifically either, but in Florida, ammunition must also be securely encased and must be stored where a child may not gain access to it. I had a box of shotgun shells on a shelf in the garage (all the other ammo was locked up) and a DCFS case worker had a minor cow about it. Legally, she was right of course.
Something you might want to check with in your state.

I think you're stuck. If you want to be licensed you will have to submit to the inspection and pass it. If you don't want to be inspected then withdraw the license application.

It's like being an FFL. If you want to be an FFL, you become subject to restrictions which the general public does not have to observe. You can avoid them by not being an FFL.
