Michael Bane talks about the practical results of these laws. They are designed to entrap the citizen ignorant of the law. For example, let's say you get pulled over for a traffic citation and you're carrying a brand new 30 round Magpul PMag in your teeth. The officer will ask "Is that a 30 round magazine?" And you say "It's a grandfathered magazine. Cop: "Turn around, hands behind your back." And you get arrested and spend the night in jail. You pay your defense attorney however much, go to the judge, they determine the PMag was grandfathered and you walk away. Even more dangerous, your record will show a firearms arrest for every background check they do from then on (this can cause a variety problems with purchases and CCW checks). In Denver, you will not get your PMag back. Colorado citizens can no longer afford to be casual about transporting their firearms.
