Legal: Making a gun Purchase Permit meet the same requirements as a Carry Permit?

Strictly speaking, the court ruled in 1939 that arms which have no military usage can be subject to federal regulation and taxation.

Please tell me how a machine gun has no military usage when every army on the planet has them?
Also, I find the idea that any firearm has "no military usage" idiotic as someone who opens a history book once and a while. Battles in the 20th century often involved the use of items not normally issued to troops out of necessity.
Of course, this is the court appointed by FDR, so no surprises they sold us out.

Preaching to the choir here.

That specific court ruled using the historically correct spirit of the 2A, but without critical knowledge or evidence to indicate what arms were/are within that spirit.

Which is to say they did what they were told to do.

They acted in accordance with the evidence and testimony provided to them.

If Miller's defense had bothered to show up and present any cogent evidence to indicate that short barreled shotguns had seen widespread use in the then-recent Great War, we might well be enjoying far easier access to SBSs, SBRs, silencers and machine guns.

But that didn't happen and absent evidence to the contrary, the NFA was upheld and the rest is bitterly unjust history.

MY personal opinion is ANYONE who handles a firearm , buys one , owns one or is gonna shoot one ; SHOULD HAVE TRAINING .

Now training is open to interpretation isn't it . Hunter safety , Military service , Specific Gun classes or an all in one encompassing firearms training course . NO State I'm aware of allows a person to operate a motor vehicle without proper training credentials and a license ,correct ?

The NEXT question is a BIG ONE ; COST ???. So at what point is it detrimental and BURDENING to the potential Gun Owner ?. Personally I believe GUNS costs are prohibiting enough !!!!!!!!!!!!!. Damn things have skyrocketed ( by design ) do in large part law suit liability BS !!!.

I also believe ONCE an individual qualifies and obtains a license ,it's 3-5 year renewal cost , should cost NO more than $10 EVER AGAIN ,meaning they shouldn't go up in price for state revenue !!!.

Again Personally I'd like to see the USA follow the Swiss example , Israeli , Swedish , Countries . Compulsory Military service # 24 months . National firearms training programs . Perhaps we'd have far fewer lackluster basement dwelling potato heads ,shooting up unarmed innocent citizens .

WE ALL KNOW , IF soft targets were reinforced with Armed qualified personnel , those targets WOULDN'T BE SOFT any longer !.

Any coward can walk into an unarmed shooting gallery and wreak havoc ,however 99.99% Cowards aren't gonna storm into a Seals or Rangers gathering ,just like their NOT gonna walk into any area where OTHERS MAY BE ARMED !.

Don't know whether it's drugs ,parents , political rhetoric, media's insane BS or society's lapse of reasoning, which emboldens mental imbeciles to commit the heinous crimes these individual do . SOMETHING MUST BE DONE and taking away individual law abiding citizens RIGHTS

ISN'T THE ANSWER , nor is restricting firearm ownership !!!.

. NO State I'm aware of allows a person to operate a motor vehicle without proper training credentials and a license ,
NO state requires training, registration or licensing to buy, own or possess a motor vehicle. To drive a motor vehicle on public roadways you do have to have your eyes checked and pass a short multiple choice test. SOME states require that you pass a practical driving test for your FIRST license.
NO state requires you to pass a test, take training, have insurance or have any medical test to own , possess or operate a vehicle on your own property.
You do not have to pay road taxes to operate a motor vehicle on your own property.
Many farmers own and operate completely unregistered vehicles on their own property, including cars, pickup trucks, implements and semi-trucks with no training or testing. In some states the farmers are permitted to drive these unregistered and uninspected implements on public roads to get from one job site to another.
You can also purchase and operate a 49cc motorbike (in many states) without a test or insurance.
Driving a motor vehicle on public roads is a privilege.
Gun ownership is a constitutional right. The two do not compare at all.

Highly state dependent. Here in Pennsylvania a 49cc motorbike still requires a class C license, insurance, and a registration plate to operate on public roads.

What's interesting to me is that in many states it is far easier and cheaper to buy and drive a car in public legally than to buy and carry a gun in public legally. Driving might as well be a right compared to bearing arms in half of our nation.

WRONG : In order to get a motor vehicle license ,one MUST have TRAINING before getting the 1 St. license . Used to be Drivers Ed in HS ,now many States require individuals to seek private accredited drivers training school . Evidentially teachers salaries and or pensions needed boosting and as with nearly every once included Public School activity has been canceled and money spent ELSEWHERE !!.
Granted one can own a vehicle operated on private property without any requirement ,other than payment and someone too deliver said vehicle .

A vehicle operated in Public can be considered a deadly weapon ,as a gun can be . MY point was the comparison between the two .

When one goes to a range or Hunting other than connected private property ,one generally operates a vehicle on public roadways and has a Gun in possession . Hunting as Fishing requires a license and IF I'M NOT mistaken ,in order to obtain a Hunting license one must have a Hunter Safety certificate or Military service for the very 1 St. license don't they ?

I wasn’t talking about getting a license. I was talking about buying a vehicle. You don’t need a license to buy a car.
Heck, a can of soda pop can be a deadly weapon.
The OP wasn’t talking about carrying a gun in public, he was just talking about buying a gun. That is the premise I responded to. Stay on topic.
