Wow! I was really convinced it was an older gun. I guess they did a good job recreating the older look, for once. I have one of those too, by the way, which is the gun in the picture I posted. Just got it yesterday. Is the double action a little rough on yours? Mine's rougher than any Smith & Wesson I've ever felt, and I've owned about a dozen of them at one point or another, most of which have had silky smooth actions. Mine will need an action slick up job. Wonder if the Performance Center will do the job for me.

Mine is smooth enough,but a little heavy.S&W triggers get better as you use them.If yours is rough,try cleaning the inside of the action really well and lubing it.The 38/44 has the slickest action I've ever seen on a revolver,probably from 50 years of use.

Well, fifty years of use probably has something to do with it, but I was buying brand new S&W revolvers back in the 1980s, and they were much smoother back then. Earlier than that, they came from the factory smoother still. That's because they would actually polish the internal contact surfaces before they left the factory back then. I have a feeling that not much polishing is going on for internal parts these days at the Smith and Wesson factory.

Hawkeye: My TR 22-4 was a little rough at first also, but a bit of lube did the trick. Must have been bone dry coming from the factory. I sent it off to S&W a few weeks ago for a Master Revolver Action Job and expect it back any day now -- hopefully it will have a very nice trigger.
