Practically every successful hunter who has hunted very long at all has tagged at least one 8-point buck. The typical 8 is the epitome of the average "textbook" buck on the average hunt. Let's see those BIG ones, though, the ones that make you realize it's not "just" an 8-point. I'll start it off with this one that I took opening day of shotgun season, 2022. He scored 152" as an 8, plus one tiny 1" kicker off the left beam.

I shot this one the last day of season in Motley Co, TX-

I don't remember the exact score, but it was just shy of 150". The incredible thing was he was 7 1/2 years old!

None of these are heroes, but both of my son's deer are good.
The bow buck was taken two days before opening day of firearms season... IMG_8827.jpg
Then on opening day he got this guy...

My opening morning buck is definitely not worthy of a big buck thread
.....but you're getting a pic anyway!

All three were big deer. I had to upgrade my deep freeze! (We needed a new one anyway). It's full of venison !
Great thread!

All of those are very nice deer. And I gotta ask what cartridge is the last deer taken with. The break barrel single shot rifle. That thing looks so short, light and handy.

It is short and handy....so handy in fact..... That it's named Handi-Rifle by H&R/NEF.
Mine is in .45-70 to comply with my state's newly legalized "straight-wall cartridge " for firearms deer season.

The simplicity has always been appreciated by me. Climbing in and out of a deer stand or atv....the loading/unloading us quick and easy.

Hmm 45-70 and I bet that thing packs a punch on both ends. My above pic is with a 45-70 also :) but I bet that light rifle is one heck of a kicker. I have a 20g shotgun that's just like that and even with bird shot it gets your attention.

My son shot a huge wide 8 point many years ago. I shot a 14-point rack that fits inside his 8 pt with room to spare.

In this part of the country, those are 4-points.

Those east of the Mississippi 8-pointers look like jackalopes to me.
Well, then, by all means please show us pictures of your own monster "4-point" whitetail(s). After all, that's the purpose of this thread.
