I'm a big 10mm fan, and I'd think that the Glock 20C would be a great platform for this round. Recently, I keep getting pulled back to my G19 as a good 9mm gun, but the G20C has been making me think twice about my next handgun purchase. That, plus I can get a nice discount http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=248747 on one.

What do you think of this round in the notorious "not fully supported chamber?"

I like my Glock 20 but I wish I would have got a Glock 20C instead. IMO the Glock is the best platform yet for the 10mm, not that I have shot them all but out of the ones I have I like Glock the best.

As far as the the "not fully supported chamber?" I shoot Double tap ammo in mine and know a lot of other folks do as well, matter of fact I think Double Tap test their ammo in a Glock 20, so if it is good enough for Double Tap to test their ammo in I do not think we will have a problem with one.

I have a Glock 20, not compensated, that is a great shooter. I've never had any case issues with it. No bulges. I just went to the range yesterday and put another couple of boxes through it.

I also have a G20.

The unsupported barrel can be an issue with hot loaded ammo. My 10.2gr of Blue Dot under 180gr FMJ's had some glocksmiles from the barrel. Also, some rather warm 800X reloads did the same. There have been some reports of Doubletap ammo doing the same in the factory glock barrels.

For that reason, I spent $98 on a Storm Lake barrel. You can get them from www.topglock.com and they are a good barrel. Reason number two for buying the barrel was for lead loads. Glock suggests you do not use lead in the factory barrel.

My pistol is a great shooter. I use a 20lb recoil spring along with the aftermarket barrel. I can push a 180gr bullet up to 1550fps if need be with no signs of overpressure with the Storm Lake barrel. Also, the brass is in much better shape for reloading with the tighter aftermarket barrel.

Id suggest getting the aftermarket barrel especially if you are a reloader. If your shooting factory ammo then the stock barrel will be fine.

Happy shooting.

I have a G20 and Love it. I wish I could pack it around as easily as my 1911. Ive shot about 100 rds of DTap ammo with no issues in the stock barrel. The DTap ammo was the 180 gr and the 135gr ammo which runs in the 1600fps range. I also bought the Sig .357 barrell and have loads of fun with that. Its the smoothest sig .357 shooter Ive ever shot.

Thanks for the replies, I've been away from the board for a few weeks due to work.

Excellent tip on the barrels, I've been trying to figure out where to get a standard G19 barrel since my G19C isn't IDPA legal.

If we're talking fighting guns, I think the G20 is the ONLY platform suitable for the 10mm Auto cartridge. Best performance, however, is seen in the big STI 2011 longslide (i.e. astounding accuracy, exceptional reliability, and the recoil of a 1911 .45 ACP shooting attenuated loads). I suppose it could even be employed as an assault/entry pistol, where the user didn't have to worry about deploying it on the fly. But for serious defensive scenarios using the subject cartridge, the G20 has no equal!

After wanting a G20 for many years, I finally decided to just buy one while I saw it under the glass at the gun shop one day. I kick myself for not getting it years ago, as it really is enjoyable to shoot. Most factory ammo, with the exception of Win. 175 gr. SilverTips, are not loaded to true 10mm velocities. Reloading your own or buying CorBon, Double Tap and Georgia Arms are your real choices. Reloading your own is the only way to make shooting the 10mm affordable, as most of the other stuff is priced beyond the volume shooter budget. I'm a big fan of my G20 and I credit Glock with keeping the round alive.

Well said, MarinePride. I'm a big fan of the cartridge, and my Delta Elite is one of my favorite handguns, but I keep finding myself going back to the G19 for ergonomics, like I mentioned in the beginning. I'm glad Glock decided to chamber a pistol in this cartridge. Too bad they wasted all that time on the .45GAP...

Looks like you were released from CA around the time I showed up for my "year remote." Glad I'm gone, too.

Glock 20

 Glock 20???, hmmm....lets see.......... BEST 10MM EVER!!! I absolutely love this pistol, true magnum power! I've had mine for a few months now, haven't got a chance to shoot it a bunch, but it is truly a beast to be reckoned with. I now have my eye on the 6'inch barrel. Can't go wrong with it. I used to own the 29, but I really didn't have any use for it, but don't get me wrong, it is more powerful than a Glock 22.

I'm not big on Glocks 'cause I got small hands, but I have to say I was quite impressed with the G20 I fired this eve. DT's 165gr @ 1400 f/s.
A handful (for me) but good fun. Accurate after getting my hand situated.

And no kaboom ;)
