Lets talk holster wear

Holster wear shows "character" of the firearm; proving that is owner took
great care in pride of ownership; and not afraid to use such weapon as
their CCW piece. There usually differences in a range gun; and one used
to protect one's hide~! Often times, I see range guns over 30 years old
that look like they just came off the store shelves; knowing they didn't,
cuz they were discontined many moons ago~! :scrutiny: ;) :D

Holster ware on a handgun is like a few scars, and wrinkles on a man, just proof that both have been around the block a time or two.

I was at a training session once that had a segment on gun retention.

The instructor replaced his Glock with a blue gun for his demo. Of course he needed to make room for the blue gun.

Solution? He cleared the Glock... then slid it across the floor, with his foot, to get it away from the intended area he needed to use.

You could have heard a pin drop. Response, "they make more everyday".

Will always does a pre-class safety inspection of your gun before classes start. High-fives usually go to folks with "dirty" guns. Why? "Because I see that you shoot it some".

If you can't accept a little holster wear on a carry gun... I guess slapping someone across the head with it (if needed- it happens sometimes) or going to the ground or risking dropping a gun during an "event" would be out of the question.

Carry guns are tools. Some of my carry guns have become colletables over the years. They have been replaced with firearms that can be replaced. I try not to get an emotional attachment to any gun that may be damaged from regular use... and own a few that are handled with kid gloves that don't get carried

Holster wear gives a gun character :) My Glock 22 was 13 yrs old this year and I had to give it up (per my Dept) for a new G-22 . It had AWESOME holster wear and was SEXY :D

jefpainthorse , that was an awesome post . A man that just kicks his gun aside to do something else , knowing that his gun will take that and WAY more is awesome.
No safe queens in my safe !

Is it a Clack? Shouldn't be, thats from Yonkers. So it's not a collectable K.

It's just a Kimber. Not a piece of artwork. Use it as intended, just get over the wear.

I use Kydex with all my 1911's. I prefere Crossbreed and Ravens Concealment holsters. Leather, rubber, etc will wear a 1911 just as fast IME. A good Kydex holster needs to hold the gun tight and still to get the same low wear characteristics as leather.

And Kydex works best for me for serious work.
