I have the opportunity to buy a used Leupold Mark 6 3-18x44 and the used price I see is generally in the neighborhood of $1,300. The listing price of course might not be what they sold for. What would you pay this for a Mark 6? My goal would be to not lose my a$$ on resale if I don't like it compared to my Bushnell LRHS. It seems like a good price. Light weight, zero stop, magnification range good for my hunting distances (500 yards max).

Does your Bushnell have a larger objective? Honestly don’t see a benefit to replacing what you have if it’s working for you. I’d call it a lateral movement at best.

I should be clear, this wouldn’t replace my current LRHS. I’ve been keeping an eye out for an LRHS but saw the Mark 6. This would be going on a rifle that is looking for a scope because it’s topless. :what:Figured I could try it, compare it. Keep it if I like it. :thumbup:Sell it if I don’t like it and keep looking for another LRHS.

Won’t Leupold fix tracking problems if it has them? I’ve read earlier ones had issues, not so much later ones. I could be wrong about this. Would you pay $1,000 for a MK6 vs $1,500 for a MK5?

You never know these days . In my experience , they come back with a clean bill of health, and a statement claiming it is "Within Specs" . No work done .

Good point. For your purposes, and maybe mine, what would your tolerance for tracking be? Any idea what Leupold defines for their tolerance with the Mark 6? Thanks.

I contacted Leupold and they indicated the tolerance on tracking for the Mark 6 is 1% (0.5% for the Mark 5). This works out to less than an inch at 500 yards for what I'm shooting. Closer to 1/2" if my math is right. If it exceeds that, with the response I got, I'm confident that it can be made good if it doesn't track.

So, with eyes wide shut, with or against all advice, and using all positive reviews to settle any cognitive dissonance, I am going to hit the buy button. If there are any other words of wisdom in the next 3 hours before I get to the post office, don't hesitate to post them. Thanks for your responses.

I'll post my results.
