Okay, yeah, there's a dealer in town w/ the highest prices on everything. I don't give him my business, but I do drop in there 3 or 4X a year just for GP.

3 or 4 years ago, someone brought in 3 older (early to mid 80's?), 40X varmint builds; wood stocks, period barrels etc.

A few of weeks ago I dropped in there. One of the rifles was still there. I noticed the scope as a Leupold 4-12 Vari-X IIc Fine Duplex. BUT, the rings were what caught my attention! It had Redfield 3200 rings!

The Redfield 3200 was one of the long, barrel-mounted scopes. The 3200 was last made in 1981. The rings are quite special for that scope. The last NIB set on EBay went out @ $300.00. Good, used sets routinely go out @ $175.00 to $200.00 +.

I researched, the scope was worth $200.00. I returned the next day and offered $200.00 out-the-door for both scope & rings. They took it!

I posted on another board I had a set of 3200 rings available. I sold them for only $165.00 (which included delivery & insurance). I figured: why not pass on my good fortune to the next guy by letting the rings go @ a discount (even though I could have got more on EBay), after all, I wind up w/ the Leupold scope for about $50.00!

Well, the next week a guy I know says he has some old scope boxes. He gives me the correct box for the Leuplod AND it has the documentation AND a sun shield!

Karma, what goes 'round comes 'round. ;)
