So I couldn't resist the urge to put a Ruger 762 AR in the stable.

Don't really have a lot of scopes as I prefer iron sights, but since this rifle will eventually get suppressed, and shot at 300-400 yds, I am looking into a fairly inexpensive scope for it.

In a quick search and some chat with local long range shooters, I looked at the Bushnell AR 3x9x40 w/BDC. But when I spent a minute looking at specs, I see it only has BDC for the .223, and while it has pretty clear glass, I have to cross that off the list.

I then found the Redfield Battlezone 3x9x42 which comes with both .223 & 7.62 BDC dials. I really like the Redfield Revolution I have on another rifle as it has very clear glass, holds zero, and is tough as nails. The fact that they have a no questions asked lifetime warranty and Leupold makes them also helps.

That said, hear is my question.

Since Leupold makes the Redfield line, what level/tier or scope do you think the Redfield Battlezone would compare with it? I would imagine that they are taking the glass from one of the Leupold line of scopes and using it for whichever Redfield scope calls for whichever glass. Doesn't make sense that they would tool up for 2 separate lens lines, but of course, I could be wrong, and I surely don't expect Redfield/Leupold to give me a "straight" answer.

Thoughts?

Leupold, like many other companies will buy the glass they use from the different manufacture's in lot's. These will be pieces that meet the level of quality Leupold want's.

Whether they buy a lot for each model, or if it is x number of pieces for this quarter to be used in a first come, first served way I, can't say.

The Redfield Revolution line of scopes are USA made and are comparable to a Leupold Rifleman.

The other Redfield scopes are imported and below par in my experience. While they are stamped Redfield they are an entirely different scope.

For $200 I'd put one of the 3-9X40 Burris FF-II's on it with the Ballistic Plex reticle.

Or pay a little more for a VX-1.

The Revolution wouldn't be a bad choice either, I just like the reticle better on the Burris or VX-1. I'd steer away from the imported Redfieds.

since you have a redfield your comfortable with, stay with redfield . get a chronograph so you can chrono your loads to get the correct drop.there are plenty of sites where you can get charts to tell you what approx drop is.
