There is a new scope I just saw out by Redfield. It's called the Redfield Revenge. It has a rangefinder built into it and for only 200 dollars. I am very new to scopes since I have always used rail sights. My first question is how good is this scope and this brand overall? I wanted to know if the rangefinder works well. The last question for now that I have is if there is any better scope that could do what the Redfield Revenge scopes can do for the same price?

These are new enough that it could be that no one here has seen one.

Redfield is Leupold. That's good. The Revenge is made in the Philippines, unlike other Redfield or Leupold scope, so there is no way to know how much it has in common with the older scopes.

The built-in rangefinder is a range-estimating reticle with holdover marks. That is not a new idea, but this one is more elaborate than most. Just about any reticle can be used as a rangefinder, and every brand has a BDC, mildot, or holdover reticle.

Nikon, Bushnell, Weaver, Vortex, and other brands also sell Asian-manufactured scopes in this size and price range. The Revenge is one of the newest, but, IMO, the reticle is not enough to separate it from the crowd.

For $200.00 you won't find a better scope than the Burris Fullfield II 3-9x40 or the Vortex Diamondback 3-9x40. Excellent clarity and solidly built. I have both on different rifles, and and several other Vortex products from the SPARC red-dot to the Viper PST, and have been very satisfied. From .223 to 7.62x39 to .300 Win Mag, and have always been happy. The SPARC has survived over 10,000 rounds on my AK, including a two-day class in which we burned through 1000 rounds a day while beating the help out of our rifles. Recently switched to a Trijicon RMR on the AK, but the SPARC is still going strong on my dads Mini-14...
