Just picked up a 1996 Browning BLR with a Leupold vari x II 2x7 scope. Couple questions for those in the know. Is it a decent scope worth leaving on the rifle? Bought the rifle for a back-up for whitetail hunting. Now the important question. Would you invest $130-$140 to have the Alumina Flip Back lens caps installed? Because of the age, I would have to send it to Leupold to have it retrofitted. They will install them for $45 plus the caps. I saw them installed on a scope in the local sporting goods store and thought they were very cool.

What say you all?

If you like the scope leave it on the rifle and use it. Its good enough for the job

I like those Leupold Alumina flip back covers, but I am way too frugal to ever consider spending that kind of money on them. Even if they were half as much I would not do it. The Butler Creek covers rcmodel pointed to are on all my hunting rigs.

Besides, its a loaner. What kind of person would borrow a scoped rifle from a guy then complain about the scope covers?
