lever revolution in a revolver ?

anybody shooting hornady lever revolution 357 mag in their revolver? Does it increase range and accuracy ? What about using it in your carry gun ?

Are they really bad guys if they are so far away that you need the slight extra velocity that the LeveRevolution bullets offer?

In any event without the acceleration to the higher velocity you get from a rifle length barrel or long barrel hunting handgun I seriously doubt you'd see any significant advantage for personal SD.

No harm in using it, for sure. I am thinking that it might speed up speedloading because the tips will help guide the bullets into the chambers.

I can understand the possible usefulness of the flextip bullet for .44 leverguns and maybe .357, but for a revolver, it seems a little silly.

Rifle ammo in a revolver usually isn't a good thing. Mind you, Hornady doesn't give the pressures of their .357 LeveRevolution rifle ammo. They do list the same ammo under both handgun and rifle on their site. Tells me it's not exactly hot .357 rifle ammo. It has a whole 66 fps more out of an 8" barrel at 50 yards than a 140 XTP out of an 8" barrel. And a whole 50 ft-lbs more energy. Won't make a lick of difference for either range or accuracy. Especially accuracy if your revolver doesn't like it.

out of a S & W M-28 6 inch the 357 flextip had a 1,409 fps average , 105 extreme spread and 34 sd. out of a revolver I don't think the pointed bullet is going to offer much at handgun ranges. quite frankly I'm not sure that it will offer much in a rifle either.

Purely speculation here, but from the pictures I've seen of leverevolution ammo in revolvers the red tips show up pretty well. If I were a bad guy and saw six missile-like projectiles pointed at me it might make me think twice about my current line of work.

I bought a box because that was all the store had in stock. Don't know about velocity but accuracy was just fine. I shot them out of a 2.5" S&W.

I think those pictures sell more of the Leverevolution ammo to folks that think it looks cool, than those folk that buy it because of performance. IMHO, at standard .357 velocities, I don't think the fancy red-tip is gonna give you any measurable difference in range and accuracy over any other quality jacketed bullet. Nor is terminal performance gonna be any better. Nor is it gonna prevent chain fires in tubed magazines any better than any other bullet specifically designed for .357.

.......but they sure look cool in the pics.

I bought some just to try. It was the only ammo that the gun store had in stock that I would consider using as a self defense round. There seems to be a .357 ammo shortage.
