Don't forget that Levi's owns Dockers.

And in addition to PAX being funded by Levi's and bein anti 2nd Amendment.

Levi's is also anti 1st Amendment. They helped fund the assault on the Boy Scouts!

I will never own anything from Levi's.

Same here. I feel dirty now, but have worn levis for a long time. What non-anti jeans fit similarly to levi loose, relaxed, and baggy? Because I hate shopping and trying clothes on, which is probably the only reason why I still buy levis and not something cheaper!

GAP =Levi's don't buy them!

I'm sorry but this is incorrect. Gap Inc. is owned by Donald and Doris Fisher of San Francisco and has no affiliation with Levis (Gap does have affiliation with Banana Republic and Old Navy though).

http://www.gapinc.com/about/realestate/brands.htm

I found this out by taking five minutes to look it up on the Internet with Google and compare the coporate ownership sections in Levis website and the Gaps.

I would humbly suggest that all of us would be better off if we took five minutes to verify what we were going to post had any potential basis in fact before we added to the confusion with yet another post that was basically grapevine rumor.

I just read the list of Gap recipients, which they will email to anyone interested. It's mostly youth programs, food programs and AIDS awareness(not surprising given their San Francisco location). The only remotely anti-gun organization that I could find listed is the National Urban League, which is about one of a hundred organizations.

To Bill Hook: Tommy Who? That sounds kind of kinky!! Has Oleg offered to take photos of this? If so you know you've really arrived!!

I shifted to Wranglers a while ago due to Levi's liberal/leftist agenda, and the fact that they moved all of their production off-shore.

Unfortunately, I just read an article about Wranglers closing their OK plant and moving their production to South America.

Guess I gotta go find another brand of jeans that are made in the USA, by a company that respects our consititution.

How about LEE - anyone got the book on them??

-DD

Dunno about Lee.

Currently buying LLBean Jeans and Kahkis.( with the co. history and selling guns I figured they were Ok). I have shooter friends buying Eddie Bauer, be curious about them. One parent says their kids like Old Navy...again dunno.

I still have and can get Duck Head Kahkis, we prolly need to research this futher.
Anyone have an idea on these co.'s ?

Levi Strauss to leave North America

IIRC Levi Strauss Co. is moving off shore ....

Levi Strauss to leave North America -- Struggling firm closing its last plants

Friday, September 26, 2003

Associated Press

September 26, 2003 — 2:07 a.m.
Levi Strauss & Co. will close its last manufacturing plants in the United States and Canada, eliminating nearly 2,000 jobs, the struggling jeans maker said Thursday.

Levi will close two sewing and finishing plants in San Antonio by year's end and lay off 800 workers, and shutter its three remaining manufacturing plants north of the border that employ 1,180 people by March. The company will contract with foreign manufacturing plants.

The move will allow the company to focus on product design, marketing and sales of its jeans, said Julie Klee, general manager of Levi Strauss & Co. (Canada) Inc.

"The closures are an absolutely necessary part of ensuring the long-term competitiveness of our business," Klee said. "Moving away from owned-and-operated manufacturing to a broader sourcing base will strengthen our business by giving us much more flexibility."

The Canadian plants affected are sewing operations in Edmonton, Alberta, and Stoney Creek, Ontario, and a finishing center in Brantford, Ontario, the company said.

In 2002, Levi's U.S.-based parent company closed six U.S. manufacturing plants, eliminating 3,600 jobs.

San Francisco-based Levi Strauss, which just turned 150 years old, became one of America's iconic brands in the 1950s and '60s, as its jeans became a wardrobe staple of baby boomers.

The company, however, has struggled in recent years to connect with younger consumers. Sales peaked at $7.1 billion in 1996 but have fallen for six straight years to $4.1 billion and got off to a slow start this year as consumers began buying more trendy or less expensive clothes.

In an effort to bounce back, Levi has designed more clothes to appeal to teenagers and young adults, and cut costs to lower prices. The company also entered the discount jeans market earlier this summer with a new brand called Signature that is sold in Wal-Mart stores.

Levi plants once dotted South Texas from San Angelo to the Rio Grande Valley. But for years Levi Strauss and other clothing makers have been shutting down U.S. plants and moving production to other countries with cheaper labor.

If they're struggling, why the contributions to left-wing causes?

Let'em struggle, as someone will buy the rights to the name and the designs.

Anybody know anything about Bugle Boy? There was an outlet store in the mall a few years back that had really great prices. I bought several pair and still wear some of them now as they really held up. I have a pair on right now. But, I alway wondered about their politics. Wal-Mart sell some Bugle Boy jeans now, but the mostly look like the gang-banger, baggy, sag-busting pants.

The Wrangler jean just fits me right. I used to get the pro rodeo, but now get the 5 star from Wal-Mart.

What about Old College Inn?

I bought Levi's for years, until they became anti-gun. Now I get Arizona jeans from JC Penneys. They're pretty similar to the levis I used to get.
