Looking to get some load data on light 20 gauge in the 5/8 - 3/4 ounce range.

Want light loads for my young daughter and wife's use in a light 20 ga pump.

I intend to use Unique powder in AA hulls with Winchester 209 primers and Claybuster WAA20 wads. I assume I will need some sort of spacer to account for less shot in the wad cup to get a good crimp. Any ideas there? I saw some really old Winchester or Remington 20 gauge wads in plastic bags at the LGS last week. They appeared to be made of some pressed plant material into disks and were super light. Would I use something like that? Corn meal? Felt disks? Just asking, dont laugh.

I didnt find any light load data in my Lyman's manual so thought you guys might be helpful. I did find this article, but they really dont go into accounting for the extra space in the wad cup.

I reload practice loads for my 12 and 20 that use 3/4oz loads. I use the ClayBuster 3/4oz wads for both- they SMOKE the targets on the 5-stand. If you do not have those, using a Cheerio on top (or a split pea or barley) will act as a light and cheap filler to get a good crimp.

Take the published 7/8oz load date for your components and just drop 3/4oz instead - this will give you the requisite pressure as you lighten the load

Claybuster 3/4oz wads. Use 7/8oz data. If you have an autoloader, pick a heavier powder charge load of 7/8oz data.
