"Like a knife, but not a knife" gift for small kid?

Its not a knife, but I made this for my wife:



We got a new machine in at work that is used to laser etch designs on cloth.

I always had knives as a kid. Just cutting yourself once will teach you to treat it with respect. (That, and mumblety-peg is fun to play, too)

Leatherman does make a knifeless fuse. CZ mentioned it but I figured I'd second the notion. It is a leatherman, and it doesn't have a blade. It'll still do a bunch of neat stuff. Back when I took it upon myself to fix everything everywhere (obviously I have not succeeded) I briefly considered carrying one in the hospital/ambulance.
