Just looking for some opinions on what you would do. I acquired my brothers 16 gauge wingmaster 870 that my Dad bought for him as a Confirmation gift back in 1965....it has nice wood and prolly less than 200 rounds through it...however back then mounts for scopes were only done by gun shops and hardware like Bsquare was not available.....it was used for deer hunting and a gun shop drilled and taped the receiver for the female portion of a scope mount......my question is...should I just put camo tape over the receiver, or have the 4 holes fixed and the receiver re-blued…..

It does have a plain barrel and no rib.

Just for fun, I know it harvested a fox squirrel and a nice doe....

Neat gun to have. That said. I would leave it as is. Dents, dings, scratches and all.

It should still run fine is present condition.

My highschool hunting buddy had a 16 ga 870 with a mod choke. Great gun. He got it from an Uncle. It had a dented barrel at about 12" from receiver. Family story, Uncle was Pheasant hunting attempting to cross a barbed wire fence and got hung up. Fell and the gun (unloaded) hit a rock. This was 50 years ago. Cherish your family gun.
