Okay I went through the 357mag and Lil'Gun stage of reloading and I cannot get any target action out of it. I tried it in a 6"GP and a Lever Action but no matter what, I get fliers and no accuracy all through the ranges. I'm sure I have the correct load data for the 6" as I found no real data for the carbine. The closest I could get to the target is with a 180gr JHP and 15gr of Lil'Gun with a cci550 out of the 6"GP100.
Have you guys had any luck with Lil'Gun? I pretty much just gave up on it. I guess H110 and 2400 are the wise old owl's waiting for people to return to them.

Are you applying enough crimp ? With slower powders I get better results with the brass trimmed to a consistent length and I use a Heavy crimp.

Yes I went through the crimp challenge as a last straw. You say you get better results? Are you saying the results are good, better than bad, better than not good or better than not gooder?:p

Sorry bill my experience with slower powders in .357 mag. does not include Lil'Gun.

I got good accuracy with Lil'Gun when used at or just under max. I have since quit using it alltogether after the issue of it's high burn temperature and forcing cone erosion came about.

I use Hodgdon's Lil'Gun exclusively with cast gas check bullets weighing from 175 to 185 grains and get great accuracy. I only shoot these through my Marlin 1894C carbines, though. I get 1,710 fps average velocity with the 185 grain cast gas check bullet from the carbine, and small clusters for groups at 50 yards. I haven't printed any targets at 100 yards with it, but can consistantly bounce a pop can at that distance with it.

I'm using mixed .357 Magnum brass and Winchester Small Pistol Magnum primers that are about 20 years old.

Hope this helps.

Fred

From posts I have seen since Li'l gun came out, it seems to prefer heavy bullets in .357 & .44, but I have only tried in in .44 Mag with 240 Gr bullets, where it did pretty well.
