Lil'Gun what's it good for?

32 S&W Long 85 gr is why I am buying LIL'GUN now.

I used to use it in 38 special 158 gr, and the more I put in the louder the report and the harder the recoil. But the chronograph was going in the other direction. I decided I like the smell of H110 better anyway.

Since the talk of premature forcing cone erosion due to the heat produced by Lil' Gun, I 'm using the little I have left in my handgun caliber carbines where it works quite well.

I tried it in 410 shotshell but it had a tendency to burn through the plastic at the base wad resulting in cut off shells. In 22 Hornet is displays an inpressive velocity/pressure ratio.

Buck460 xvr,

Is this just talk or is it that hard on forcing cones?

Depends on who you want to believe. Google it and you'll find volumes on it from just about every gun forum on the internet. According to Bob Baker of Freedom Arms, it does do damage. I see no reason to take a chance since H110/W296 gave me similar velocities and better accuracy and didn't make my guns near as hot. Some say it depends on the load and bullet weight. Me, I'll just use what I have left in my carbines and then move on.

I've had personal experience with LG forcing cone & top strap erosion in a 44 mag & a 460 mag, and have written about it in some threads. I hear the 327 is real high pressure, no way I'd use it there.

I'm trying my pre-loads in a 77/44 now. So far so good, but very few rounds down the pipe so too soon to tell.
